what's the best (i.e. easiest to use and free) mp3 editor ??
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 11:43 AM by welshTerrier2
on my old computer, i once used a program called "audacity" that's fairly easy to use ... i have a new computer and need to download an mp3 editor ...

i want to be able to "clean-up" mp3 files that i recorded with a stream recorder ... fwiw, the recordings were made with streamRipper which is a plug-in for winamp (i'm using version 5) ...

the "best" program would be the one that's easiest to use ... it doesn't need to have "fancy" features ... i'm just looking to "snip out" stuff at the beginning or end of mp3 recordings ...

any advice ??

1. Try mpTrim (formerly known as mp3Trim)
They have a freeware version available that will handle any file under 7 minutes. Does exactly what you described.

http://www.mptrim.com/

Longer mp3's require registration and a little money.

You can also find some other programs on their links page.

3. works great, thanks ...
this is just what i needed ... audacity is a great tool but it's more than i needed ... audacity lets you highlight an area of sound, enlarge it, and then select (with click and drag) a section to highlight. Then you can just delete the highlighted section ...

mpTrim is much easier to use and is exactly what i needed ... the front trim and back trim combined with the fade in and fade out is perfect ...

thanks for the tip !!
