Argh... Ok... How Does One Download .rm (RealPlayer) Files From C-Span ??? |
|
According to this I'm allowed. Link: http://video.c-span.org:8080/viewsource/template.html?nuyhtg9yy7y675At4e4fCvqe3k7Ea7tx1u4fq8Ccseu9cfngjai9s6by5gs6qm5Cq4lppbDf4of4rqm2mp090000000000000000004of4rqnC4EonEo0000jBiatvThis too... Link: http://127.0.0.1:14726/viewrights.htmlRight-click and 'Save As Target' gets me a java-script cannot play clip warning. Why has RealPlayer made this next to impossible to accomplish, if C-Span is willing to share? How the hell does one do it?

All that means is that the source has not set the "no download" flag in the stream, which further means if you have the professional (or whatever it's called) version of Real Player, you can save it. The one and only point of that flag is to allow networks to prevent you from saving streams using the version of Real Player that allows you to save them, some compromise they made with networks when the were marketing the technology to provide real network streams. The Free Real player that most people have does not have this functionality added to it. I don't use it, so I'm not sure, but Real Alternative may have the save function enabled.
FWIW, the second link means nothing to anyone outside your system. 127.0.0.1 is an internal address for you computer, often called "home."
What you need is a stream ripper. The OSS project MPlayer functions as a stream ripper if you learn how to do it. I assume it works the same in Windoze as it does under Linux in that you'll need to invoke it from the command line to grab the stream.
Or, you might look in your cache (Temporary Internet Files) and see if the file got placed there upon download while you were watching it. That sometimes happens, although more often with Windoze media than with .rm files.
