X-Box Live hookup through DSL modem.

We are finally getting DSL hooked up today (whoohooo!!) and my son wants to know if he can run his ethernet port directly to his x-box or will he need a router? There are 4 ethernet ports on the back of the DSL modem.

1. You only need a router if the DSL modem does not

provide Network Address Translation (NAT). I used to hook several
machines to the DSL modem, but I had to "switch the connection"
among them, I could not use the network from all of them at the same
time. That is what the router provides (plus some firewall capabilities).
