1. Yes.
I still sometimes call Milo (age 2), Woody, who died 3 years ago of a neurological disorder at the relatively young age of 7. Still miss the little guy.

2. Yes
Just the other day when I was talking to my sister I meant to say Touky and said Tigger instead. I had Tigger for 17 years. I do that alot, actually. Maybe it's the "T" thing. But my heart breaks everytime I do it.

4. at first but not anymore
I adopted Oliver, an orange tabby. and during his first year with me, I called him "Max," the name of an orange tabby who died many years earlier. I don't think I've made the mistake since but I sometimes wonder whether Oliver is the reincarnation of Max. If he is, I'm flattered and happy he decided to do another lifetime with me.

5. Yes, I call my Turkish Angora (Puck) "Peewee", or just "Wee", which was
the name of my beloved late half Turk. They don't look much alike, but the Turkish Angora personality is so strong and so unique that even my friends make the same mistake when they visit.

8. we allways got the same version of dogs and cats
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 08:54 PM by superconnected
the dog was a black cockapoo named cinders. Except once there was a Charco, we got him while a cinders was alive, he was a black cockapoo.

for cats:
all calicos were named mismatch
all grey cats were named smokey.
all white cats were named snowball.
the one grey and white was named wrangler.

Because we had our cats forever they lived late into their teens. It was very hard to lose an animal in my family because we had them so long. None were put down. One dog was hit by a car, but all the rest died of old age.

Wehad 2 snowballs, 2 smokeys, 3 cinders, one wrangeler. and 2 mismatches. (my 18 calico now is named mismatch and I'm not counting her in there as she's after I grew up.)

At that time we let our cats have one litter of kittens, would keep one female cat and get our cat fixed -giving away the rest. So all but one cat I named came from literally 5 generations of a cat we had and were related.

9. I call Boots by my deceased Maine Coon's name
When I get mad at Boots for planting his ass right where I have to plant my feet, I call him Sylvester--my deceased Maine Coon, because Sylvester had to have come back from the grave as Boots.

10. Yes!
I just lost my momma cat, Nightmare in March. I keep calling the new cat I adopted (Sterling) Nightmare. And sometimes I call Smoke (Nightmare's son), by the name of my dog who just died in June (Magic).

12. I called Theo Frodo all the time
I don't know why, they looked nothing alike - maybe it was the "x-O" factor.

My husband called Theo Gabe when he said goodbye (Gabe was his 16 yo dog that passed away 15 years ago) Calls my dog Gabe occasionally too - shows how deep and long our attachments run.

13. Don't call them by deceased pet's names
but I often call them by my two legged children's names. The wife looks at me funny when I call our JTR Jenny instead of Lucille. Jenny thinks its funny, but Lucille just ignores me.
