Musical beds.

[Longhorn]

Our four dogs are a great source amusement to us and it hasn't been any funnier than since we got some new beds. First, I got one of these:



Well, Sparky, the Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, decided it was his and if another dog got in it, he'd just go over and squeeze in until he crowded the other dog out. So I got another bed and they are side by side next to the stone hearth. Well, Brutus, the dachshund, has his own little bed but he decided that HE wanted to lounge on the new doggie sofa! Next thing we know, Brutus is nestled where the arms of the two sofas come together, with Sparky and Buddy, the white lab mix, each taking up a bed. That leaves Paco, the small black lab mix, wandering around looking for a bed. Last night, Brutus was lying on one end of a sofa and Paco squeezed in beside him on the other end, butt to butt.

We have the same bed saga going on upstairs in our bedroom, where they all sleep. Brutus has his own little doughnut bed. There are two other beds, one a fleece-covered foam and the other actually has a heating pad inside. If any dog dares get in the foam bed before Sparky, he just lays down on top of him! Paco always sleeps under our bed and Buddy grudgingly takes the heated bed (he would prefer to sleep with us but we put a stop to that awhile back.)

I've ordered two more doggie sofas but they are on back-order. It won't be as much fun as watching them jockey over the beds but they should all be comfortable! :D
