I took the advice offered here about getting another cat, and this afternoon Milo has a new roommate. I went to a pet shelter and got a cute (they're all cute) 8-month-old gray male (neutered) tabby. There will be pictures as soon as the two of them sort things out enough to sit still. Milo is curious but not especially hostile, and the new one is nervous, but there hasn't been much hissing so far -- just scurrying around and sniffing. I have to think of a name for him now.

5. Yeah! I don't think you will get much sleep for few more nights yet - |
|
They will be so busy discovering each other that they will be up all night - over time, I bet you will have two happy cats and will get some peace!

6. New Kitty is holding his own. |

But he's still moving too fast to get a good photo. For awhile he holed up under the bathtub (I have one of the old-fashioned ones with claw feet), but I was able to coax him out after a bit. He likes me, purrs when I pet him, but is still hissing at Milo, who seems to want to be friends. But Milo's pretty large, and I imagine New Kitty is feeling intimidated. He weighs about 6 lbs., he's a medium gray striped tabby with big, slightly tufted ears and a long, sleek body almost like a Siamese. He's holding Milo at bay, and he seems to be getting a little bolder. I think they are getting used to each other, although he continues to hiss and growl if Milo gets too close. Cats have their own ways of doing things, so as long as they just make noise I think they will be OK before long.
I wish I could think of a good name for him.

8. Thanks; I thought of that, loved the movie. |

And it's still on the table. But so far, he doesn't seem like an "Otis." I'm still getting to know him.
