I took my baby into the vet and they did blood tests. he has a liver problem. Apparently its enlarged. They have him on IVs and a med for this. Pray for him. He's the brother of my sig baby, Tippy. I can't lose them both. I'm just crying and crying.

11. I just talked to the vet. She said he's still hanging in there. He's |
|
laying in his kennel watching people go by. IV's all night and lots of peeing-all dark of course. She said he's probably the second dog she's seen in her career that was hurt by Rimadyl. Throw away your rimadyl. It's poison. She says she believes he'll recover. I feel better right now but only so much. Until he can come home, I won't be. Thank you for your kindness. You have no idea how much you help us. bless DU and bless you all.

I know how it feels waiting and waiting and hoping that everything will be okay. The vet sounds encouraged that he'll recover. That's good news!
Still crossing my fingers and keeping a positive thought for you and Andrew!
Keep us posted.

13. OMG, Rimadyl!! I wish I had known your doggie was on that. |
|
I could have warned you. It almost killed my Rottie. Luckily, I had done some research on it when the vet first prescribed it, so I knew what side effects to watch for. When she began to have bloody stools, I took her off it immediately. I was fortunate that she did not have any permanent damage. I put her on Glucosamine and it helped her immensely, so she was able to live to the ripe old age of 12 (which is old for a Rottie).

None of those arthritis medications are safe. Check out this Web site. http://www.srdogs.com/Pages/rimadylfr.html

14. Milk Thistle is supposed to do wonders for liver problems. Check |
|
it out on the internet. I have heard they use it in Europe in emergency rooms as a poison antidote. If you must use Rimadyl for arthritic pain relief, use the milk thistle to protect the liver.
I hope your little fur guy is ok.

18. thank you, all of you. I will check on milk thistle. I called pfizer and |
|
screamed at them. I wanted them to hear my boy's name. ITS ANDREW! DON'T FORGET HIS NAME!
Amazing.
I have been told he is about the same and they will take his blood count tomorrow. Pray for my little boy. I am putting him in my sig line after this post too. Tippy and ANdrew, my babies.

|
Are they looking at the bili rubin count? Jeans was almost 13 and is now down to 1.5. Ask if an ultrasound is in order. That is what saved Jean. Please let me know.

27. Update: Andrew is going to make it. :) |
|
He pulled his IV out Saturday and took such an upswing so fast when he was expected to not make it that I KNOW you folks were part of his healing. There aren't words for the agony we have felt and the happiness now. I am so grateful for you folks. You have no idea. Now, Pfizer is next. I will be talking to them again. :( Rimadyl has to go. Bless each and every one of you. I love you.

You're right, Rimadyl has to go. It should be taken off the market. It has been responsible for many dogs' deaths.
