UPDATE on Smoke

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know how Smoke was doing. He's one diuretics now, and they seem to be helping. He is a little perkier than he was a week ago. My housemate said that if you didn't know he had cancer, you would never be able to tell he was sick. He's still bright-eyed, coat shiny and full, still going up and down the stairs and coming up for cuddles. He has been spending most of his time in the bathroom, in a laundry basket full of towels, but not as much as he was last week. So maybe he will be around for a while! Stranger things have happened. I guess I will take him back to the vet in a couple of weeks for a look-over, but other than that, I'm just treating him as I always have.

1. I hope Smoke is better soon!

I've lost a couple of my pets (one cat and one dog) to cancer so I do know what you are going through.

My dog that died in Dec. had a beautiful coat. You'd never had known he had cancer until the tumor returned about 10 mos. after the surgery.

As for the cat that had cancer, she lived about 5 years after the diagnosis.

My other cat is a white cat and has skin cancer. That was diagnosed in the year 2000. It has come back twice since (the lesions). If I take her in right away and they burn the lesions off, she heals up just fine. She's doing well and just turned 12 years old!

Let's hope that Smoke lasts a long time too - it IS possible! :D
