Anyone use Revolution for their dogs? |
|
The heartworm thread below reminded me of this. (So sorry about your pooch, Vektor!)
The mosquitoes here are impossible. During peak times, we won't even go outside. We don't put any chemicals in our yard, though our neighbors keep suggesting this, so I really don't like putting chemicals on the kids and pets either. However, I can't take a chance any time of the year because of the pesky skeeters.
I used to give my old dog Heartguard and never had any problems. Now our vet uses Revolution and says it's better for an all-in-one. The thing is, I hate using it. I never know if I'm getting it on the dogs in the right way, except they both react as though it stings, so I know something is going in, though it looks like more is on the fur. When I told the vet this at the last checkup, he stood pretty firmly in his stance that Revolution is the best option.
We don't have a flea problem and the dogs are mainly indoor dogs.
What do you use for heartworm and flea protection?

1. I use biospot for flea protection and heartguard |
|
but I think there is a problem if your dogs act like the Revolution burns. I've never heard of it. You can buy biospot at the feed and seed store.

2. Interceptor for heartworm protection |

and Advantage for the fleas. I don't use the Advantage until I see a flea on the dogs though. I don't like using it, but it works great. I didn't have to use it at all in 2004.

3. Started with Heartguard |
|
Then went to the shots. He got 3 shots with no ill effects, but when the shots were withdrawn went back to Heartguard. Do the Advantage for fleas and ticks but cut back to bi-monthly in winter.

4. I use heartguard. Fleas aren't a big problem for us |
|
Our house is mostly tiled and the dogs aren't outside except for their walks or sun time on the screened lanai. If I find evidence of fleas, I toss the dogs into the pool and drown the fleas. It seems to be working so far.
