Last night around 4:30, I woke up hot, so in lieu of turning on the AC, I opened the window. Around 6:00, I woke up again because one of my kitties was scratching at the door. I figured it was Manilla so I got up to see what he was doing. Well, he wasn't at the door, but the scratching continued. I opened my door, and there was Manilla! He had pushed out the window screen, ran around my apartment complex for who knows how long, then decided that he wanted to come back home so he pushed his way through my screen door. It's a good thing he came home when he did b/c I would have really freaked out if I woke up and he wasn't in my apartment. Now I have to explain to my landlord why I need new screens for my window and door. :eyes:

3. ours did the same thing |

last year -- the side porch has windows and screens and gets alot of sun -- so when the windows are open the cats like to lounge on the sills
one of them managed to bust through a screen and they were wandering about the back door when I got home from work -- don't know how long they were out
we did a quick patch on the busted screen, only to have them bust through another screen a few days later. I spent a weekend replacing all the screens -- not an easy job
what has seemed to work is buying those little "sliding screens" and put them in the windows -- it acts as a "second level barrier" -- cheaper and easier to replace than redoing all the screens...

Boots escaped from a cardboard cat carrier by pawing and pushing it open--while he was in a car! He also got out while I visited my friend by sneaking out right underneath me--he had to get the timing just right or else he'd lose out; or alternatively, he'd get out either through an open window or, even more incredibly, by scratching a sliding screen door and making a hole large enough for him to slip through.
