1. We've taken in quite a few pits at our rescue.

Every single one has turned out to be an absolute sweetheart. They've been abused, starved, chained...we have one that was used as bait for dogfighting. He must not have fought back very well, as he was really torn up. He's the sweetest, most affectionate dog. Happy and eager to please. The Amstaff really is a great breed with a bad repuation.

We adopted a dog that's at least half Pit Bull last fall. She strayed into our yard and wouldn't leave. All the shelters told me they would not "adopt out" a dog that was all or part Pit Bull! I assumed that meant she would be euthanized. I couldn't do that to her.

I was nervous about keeping a Pit Bull but after a week I was convinced. She is the sweetest dog ever! She absolutely LOVES my little girl. Her whole body wiggles when she sees her or hears her voice. All she wants to do is snuggle and smooch. I've never seen her be the least bit aggressive. People are amazed that she is so totally gentle and lovable. These poor dogs have surely gotten a bad rap.
