Good news about my cat, Smoke!

Hi all,

My cat, Smoke, was diagnosed hyperthyroid in the end of January. His mother, Nightmare, was hyperthyroid for the past 1 1/2 years, and I had to put her to sleep last month. :( Smoke is still adjusting to losing his mom (he's 14 and they were together with me all that time).

However, I did get some very good news from the vet. Smoke's blood work came back NORMAL this past week, so I am able to cut his meds in half. I am saving up the $1000 to get the feline radiation treatment for him, and this news means I don't have to worry/feel guilty about having to put off the treatment for a little while longer to raise the money. The vet said he's doing fine!

I keep hearing more and more about cats and hyperthyroidism, I DO wonder what the heck is causing this -- having a thyroid condition myself (but I have HYPO). Hope he continues to get better. :))

7. Great news!

I'm so glad that he's eligible for the radiation treatment. My beloved kitty Peewee had hyperthyroid, but he also had cardiomyopathy and poor kidneys, so he was not able to have any treatment outside of the tapazole. :-(
