AAAAAiiii!!! New kitten is driving me NUTS!
The rescue group dropped off another bottle baby yesterday, saying that no one else could handle her. Now I know why; she SQUEALS nearly every moment she's awake! Even when she's purring and kneading, she's squawking away. I feed her, I make her "go potty", I pet her, I snuggle her-she'll even toddle after a toy-but she just won't stop mewing at the top of her lungs! The only thing that help so far is wrapping her up like a kitten burrito in a polar freece blanket. Any suggestions? (Yes-she's going to the vet later today).

Doing what she does best:

Happy kitten burrito:

1. Answer her?
I know...not funny.

She's awfully cute. :loveya:

Maybe she's just freaked out and will calm down once she gets used to her new surroundings. She must really miss her mommy or her siblings. Are any of your cats the maternal type?

3. I wish I had one that was maternal here
Puck is totally freaked by her, poor thing. She's actually been away from mom for about a week, but the guy who had been bottle feeding her just couldn't take the constant mewing. She also mews much more softly if she's wandering around on the floor near my feet-maybe she just doesn't like being held? I've never had a cat like that, but I guess it's possible.

2. ROFL Kitten burrito! They say that human babies like to be bundled too.

Guess she misses her Momma. Guess the best thing is to just keep her wrapped up if that is what makes her happy. Wrap her up and tuck her in your bra and take her along with you where ever you go.

6. Lol! Did you check out her claws in the first pic?
I think I'll keep her away from my own tender parts. ;-) But you've given me an idea; maybe if she rode around with me in my windbreaker with the big pocket in the front, she might be content.

9. Did see those claws, but figured if she was wrapped tight enough,
she would not be able to wound you....

4. Too cute!
If people only knew what a foster has to deal with. Is it possible that she is cold? Kittens that little have a hard time maintaining body temperature. They sell this thing at the pet store that you fill with warm water and put in the microwave. You put it in the kittens crate underneath a towel and it keeps them toasty warm. Like a hot water bottle but just for pets.

Either that or a heating pad turned on low, wrapped in a towel. Making sure it never gets too warm and that the kitten has a way to get of the area if it gets too hot.

Other then that making sure she is healthy is a good start. She could just be a talker. I have had kittens like that, it's funny and can drive you insane all at the same time.

I wish you well and I hope that you can ride out the meows. She is very cute.

5. I guess I'll try the heating pad
she sure does like the polar fleece-so you may be onto something there. It's funny, I've hardly heard a peep from the other three since they got here, but now that she's mewing constantly, THEY'RE starting the mew for attention, too! Maybe they're just saying "get us away from this noisy thing"!

works the same way- nuke it for a couple minutes, and it stays warm for a while.

7. Pad Thai's spiritual sister!!!
Maybe I should adopt her. They could both yowl constantly together! I mean the diarrhea mouth on the Siamese when I'm home is . . . horrendous! And he's 7 years old. Maybe this little one was just born that way.

13. Try a battery clock
loud ticking may remind her of her mommy also a wrapped hot water bottle. Before Einstein died he was cuddling with it for 2 days

14. poor little thing is missing her litter mates, maybe.

You know how they huddle together in a pile ..

My 3 young boys are littermates, and the black one was a squealer and he grew up to be a whiner. He will not let you walk past him without a whine ..he wants to be petted.

You are swaddling her with the burrito look. I have heard that is recommended for human babies when they are colicky..maybe she has colic?

but she sure is cute

16. Lol!
She's been with the head of the rescue group for the past week, waiting for testing (she gave my other kittens a parasite-they're OK now, but we have to see if she has anything else). I pick her up again tomorrow. One night of peace and quiet for me! (The other three kittens get fixed tomorrow)!
