Well Lorien, here's another "ugly" little kitten! Dialup warning!
Someone left this little thing on my neighbor's lawn in a box all day Thursday. No sign of any other kittens or the Mommy.
As soon as we spotted him, my landlady and I took him over to the vet Thursday nite.
It turned out that he is about 3-5 days old, and that is when we found it that it is a HE. The vet said that all things considered he was doing very well. Strong screaming and squirming. No bugs that we could see. Very little discharge from the eyes.
The vet's name was Murphy, so that is what we named him. We have been feeding him every three hours with the KMR using the little bottle that you see in the picture.
This afternoon we were lucky enough to find a kitty family for him at North Shore Amimal League! There was a Mommy with a litter there and Murphy now has brothers and sisters and a real kitty mommy. We were sad to give him up, but we know that he is better off with a real fur mommy.
We asked them to send us some pictures of his progress. They said they would.

7. Oh how precious!
Lucky you and your friend came along to save this little guy's life. You've given him a good start. He will probably be someone's loved family pet.

8. Thanks all. Ending up at North Shore Animal League is just about the best

place a little guy like this could end up. It is a wonderful no-kill shelter with a wonderful veterinary hospital attached. They will take very good care of him and will definitely find a wonderful home for him. I would not be surprised if my landlady ends up adopting him once he is old enough to be weaned. She seemed to be pretty interested. She only has SIX cats right now.
A few years ago there was a Mommy cat that saved all her kittens from a burning warehouse. She was brought to North Shore by the fireman that saved her and her kittens. Scarlett, as she was named, was badly burned, but she survived, as did all but one of her kittens. There was a letter writing "contest" to see who would get to adopt the kittens and Scarlett.

9. I couldn't agree more...
they are in my will. I also belong to the Safe Haven program - all kitties living at the time of my death will be shipped to NSAL so that they don't end up at the local "kill" shelter. I just visited NSAL for the first time about a year and a half ago and was very impressed. Being a native New Yawker, I thought that NSAL was the best place I could send my guys. By the way, that kitten is way too cute.

10. What a sweet little baby!!!
Grrr, though, how could someone be so f'ing cruel to leave a defenseless kitten in a box! Makes me want to scream.

Bless you, bless you for saving the little guy!!! I hope he finds a good home.

12. I have had 3 kittens dumped in my yard.
Luckily, I was able to find homes for them all. I can't have cats because of my Rottweiler. She thinks that cats are only good for snacking on.
