Give me your cat litter recommendations.
I have one male cat (neutered), but he sure does produce the ammonia smell that goes thru the entire house.

Looking for something that reduces odor problems, and easy to clean up. I've never had much luck with so called "scoopable" litters. My experience has been that the cat urine turns them into a sticky, slimy mess on the bottom of the pan.

Was at PetSmart tonight. Looking at litter made from newspapers, pine, corn, wheat etc. Bought some SWheat Scoop, made from wheat. He doesn't seem too happy with it. Guess I'll have to mix some of the old litter with it.

The best I've found are the crystals. They really soak up the odor, but are very expensive.

Any recommendations?

1. I'm using one called "world's best cat litter" for my foster kittens
(they aren't supposed to have the scoopable kind) it seems to work fairly well.

3. The best thing about "World's Best"?
It's FLUSHABLE.

I had to put another box in the bathroom to help keep up with my kidney failure kitty - and I use Worlds Best in there. Every time I use to bathroom I scoop & flush.

Awesome!

It never clogs, either!

10. When I used "World's Best" ... it was so dusty ... there was a fine dust
all over the room (bathroom). When I scooped it, even though I scooped low and slow, there was still dust.

2. Try pine.
Compressed pellets of pine sawdust. You would be amazed at how well it works. http://www.felinepine.com/ <-- not endorsing the brand (although I use it) because I'm sure other brands work just as well. More expensive than clay and scoopable; less expensive than crystals.

Good luck!

8. The odor of the pine type got to me..
not after the cat used it, just the smell of the product itself.

I use Everclean. With 5 cats, the litter pearls weren't that effective and one of mine hated them. Plus, stepping on them if they got tossed out of the box was no treat lol.

11. Hi, is the idea with the pine pellets to just ....
throw the whole thing out every day? When I tried Feline Pine, when the pine pellets got wet it disintegrated into a course saw dust at the bottom of the litter box.

5. Worlds Best, Feline Pine are good
you could try Cat Okay. It's a little pricey but it's amazing stuff. The most absorbant litter I've ever seen. One box is supposed to last a month.

6. I use Cedar Fresh
and the only place I know that sells it is Target. It's cheap (scoopable) and fairly good at deodorizing.

7. Feline Pine
I have two male cats, and I like this one the best. Although the citrus litter, if you can find it, is very good too.
