Can anyone here give some advice about running an animal rescue?

We have decided to start our own nonprofit animal rescue. We have a few very experienced rescue people and several people that we can depend on as fosters. We also have a pretty good network of veterinarians and suppliers that will help out with services and supplies.

My question is, they have asked me to consider being president. Anyone here have experience with this? I've served as a director in the jaycees when I was younger but I don't really know what is involved in running a rescue.

I told them that I would think about it but that they would have to provide a lot of support until I figured out what I was doing.

Any input?
