5. He is a reverse meezer..
chocolate brown, including the whiskers, with 2 white toesies on each front paw. His litter mate looks like your typical chocolate point meezer.

I got Razputin while helping out a small Siamese Rescue Group in NYC thru which I'd adopted my snowshoe Sasha. I mostly took photos for them. (The cats were boarded at the time at the Cat Practice, if you're familiar with them.) I was so taken with Razpy when I saw him, but someone was planning to adopt them both as companions for an older cat. They had to stay at the vet for awhile because they were so young, but it was clear from the start that Razpy was a little, uhm, unusual. At the last minute, the girl adopting them backed out and just took the brother. That was on a Thursday. Saturday morning I was there with a carrier and Razputin came home with me.

The brother was a little wuss. For some time, his adopter had to 'rescue' him from the top of his cat tree because he was afraid to climb down. Meanwhile, Razpy was flying around my place like a berserk fruitbat!

6. This reminds me...
...of Paul Gallico's The Silent Meow, purportedly an advice manual for homeless cats from one who had managed to take over a new household. I have no idea if it's still in print, but it was a favorite among cat owners back in the '60s.

7. I have a copy of that! It is terrrific!!!
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 11:32 AM by BrklynLiberal
It is worth the search to find a copy. Told from the view of the cat, with some great pics!! The "author" must have been an ancestor of Raz!!!!!

Details of the copy I have:

The Silent Miaow
A Manual for Kittens, Strays, and Homeless Cats

Original copyright 1964
Paperback Copyright 1985
Crown publishing
201 East 50th Street

$9.95 under Pets category

It is supposedly "translated from the Feline" by Paul Gallico

Amazon has it available new and used for as low as $3.07

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/0517556839/ref=cm_cr_dp_pt/104-8395073-6405507?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=283155&s=books

This manual for kittens, strays, and homeless cats was translated by the gifted writer, Paul Gallico, after it was typed by a wise cat. The result is alternately uncanny and heartwarming. Uncanny because I recognized every ploy that my cat, Duchess, uses to wheedle from me a life of incredible comfort, and heartwarming because it portrays the wonderfully affectionate nature of cats. After you read this, you will never again view a cat in the same manner. They are calculating creatures, but they are also full of love for you. The lessons in this manual are enhanced wonderfully by dozens of terrific photographs of a cat named Cica. Don't miss this splendid book.

12. I'm glad it's still available...
Somehow, after all these years, I didn't think it would be.

I had a hardcover version, circa 1969, with a different cover. It's still around here somewhere.

9. Oh, that's from several years ago..
I was working at a hospital at the time, and they wanted me to sit at my desk with an iv hooked up with antibiotics, but we compromised on a massive loading dose of pills instead!

It happened on a weekend and I'd already applied a mild bleach solution which will kill everything, just about.

10. Dude! Thanks for the info!

Smoke: Dude, that was freakin' AWESOME stuff! Almost as good as catnip! Don't let the humans get you down, man. They know their place, most of the time.

Sterling: *sniffs arrogantly* I would never lower myself to such an undigified state. You give cats a bad name, Raz. Of course, you're probably not an FCA-registered silver Persian, like me. And yes, I am better than you. *sniffs arrogantly again*

Smoke: Sterling, dude, put a sock in it, man. No one cares about your freakin' pedigree. My mom was an unwed teenage homeless mutt of a cat, and look how great I turned out! 14 and still going strong, dude! Pass the catnip!

Sterling: *says nothing, as he's too dignified to give a response, and simply walks away with his tail held high*

11. Sigh, I feel your pain, Sterling..I live with two pedigreed
Russian Blues..they live in a fantasy world of a return of the Russian Monarchy. They speak of blini, sturgeon and caviar and would never post at a cat board. They claim to own 3 Faberge Eggs.

Tsar Ivan is a bit more regular but Tsar Yuri is a Monarchist of the highest order!

Just look at that glare!
