Does anyone know about Chinese Crested dogs?
I'm thinking about adopting one and they seem like a pretty good breed for my situation (In a rented house with no fenced in yard). I'm very nervous about making the right choice for the dog. I love animals, I just hope I'm ready for the required commitment. The current owner is bringing him over tonight for a visit.

Here is a picture:

1. Is that a mix breed?
Doesn't look like any of the Crested's I've seen. He's cute. Here's a link to the crested dog I'm familiar with.

5. I love them...
...but then, I like the exotic and unusual. :) Haven't had one myself (yet), but I understand they're very agile, very affectionate, and do need their share of skin care, just like a coated breed. They will tan in the sun, which they love, but you have to make sure they don't burn, and use sunscreen on them like you would on yourself during long exposure. Protection from the cold of winter is a given. And the skin will sometimes break out in acne during the "teenage" months, or if the dog is otherwise stressed. They tend to have problems with their teeth, and might not have a full dentition (which is allowed, but their tongue will loll out the side of their mouth if teeth are missing). Be sure your breeder tests for congenital blindness, which is a potential problem in this breed. That being said ... enjoy! :)
