Help getting rescued cats from New Orleans to NYC

My friend Susan, from San Antonio, Texas, is in New Orleans right now helping with the rescue of animals that were left behind.

She met a lady that was forced to leave her 9 cats in order to save her disabled mother. The woman has returned to N.O. to rescue her cats. She has been allowed back to her house and so far has gotten 5-6 of them and they are in a temporary shelter and is still working on getting the rest of them. She has set out cages to capture them, as they (of course) are not in the house any longer.
What she needs is any information about anyone who might be driving from New Orleans to NYC. She will be relocating to live with her sister here and does not think she will able to take that many cats on an airplane with her.
Any ideas or suggestions?

1. There is a rescue in the DC that will be going down to get pets.

Perhaps they can get the cats here, and someone can get them from here to NYC.

Alternately - you could post this on pets board on the NYC craigslist.

There are probably rescues from NYC doing the same.
