Car maintenance-better before, during or after Mercury retrograde? |
|
I need to take little 15 year old Nellie in for some maintenance. Nothing major, just a tuneup and to have her oxygen sensor checked (I think that's what it's called). Our old friend Mercury is going backwards starting Sept 7 till the 29th. I don't really want to wait 6 weeks or more till it's back on its path again, but neither do I want to pay for a FUBAR that might be avoided if I wait. I'm going back to the mechanic who has been ok with her in the past, not going to try a new one. Have you had anything similar and what's been your experience?

1. hmmm... I would think maybe "just" before... |
|
that way you are tuned up and not looking at any disturbing repairs during the retro...If anything is gonna pop out and break or surprise you, it could happen DURING the retro, so better to head it off at the pass IMO!
Off topic : where'd you get the name Beulah? My fave Grandma was named that! very southern, right?

4. Unfortunately it looks like it's going to have to be that way |
|
Can't fix it this week. Labor Day weekend comes 3 days after I get paid next, and I don't want to be without a car if they can't take me. Ah well, I can get some easy maintenance stuff like oil changes done before then.

5. Well, I suppose the good news is that my "challenges" occurred before retrograde... |

;)
Yesterday, I was hit by another teenager. A fender-bender, with less damage than the last incident in which a young girl neglected to stop at a stop sign and side-swiped me. The first incident happened at my daughter's school last year. The incident yesterday was only a block from the school, and the young driver is a senior at the same school this year.
As I assured both girls, thank goodness no one was hurt, and I'm sure they'll both be extra careful from now on (I hope).
I feel like my car is a bumper car though...just need to get those big rubber pads going all the way around like they have at amusement parks. At least until my daughter graduates in two years.
That really did shake me up simply because...geesh, even small accidents are nerve wracking with the need to exchange information, assess the situation, etc. Plus, my nerves have been shot the last week anyway.
An hour later my car overheated and broke down. Out of the blue. The fender-bender had nothing to do with it, so it seems. Still not sure what's wrong and I pray it's not hugely expensive.
Today was the first day of school and I had to scramble to find rides to and from for my daughter (no bus system).
Oh, and my cell phone number seems to have been hijacked. I've been receiving calls all day from irate people complaining that my number shows up in texts/calls they're receiving.
Joy, joy, joy.
Hugs to everyone struggling.... :grouphug:
