Okay, goofy question: Were you all surprised that the outburst during the President's speech |
|
happened tonight?
Obviously, not everyone in the country saw it, but the ones that did got another indelible lesson about the Republican Party...

:hi: I wasn't surprised and had been holding my breath waiting for it. But I was surprised that there wasn't more yelling from that vociferous party. I mean so many of them, like Boehner, Cantor, Graham couldn't even conceal their contempt for the president. If looks could kill...

3. Wilson had better get a formal reprimand from his party leaders |
|
Absolutely appalling, what he did. This is the Capitol, not a comedy club. (Okay, maybe some times it seems like a comedy club, but it's not.)
Then, his constituents should turn him out of a job in November 2010. Who's running against him? I will send a contribution.
Absolutely appalling. Like the time Dick Cheney told Sen. Patrick Leahy to f&*k off. No manners, no civility, no class.

8. Here's info on his opponent. |

I donated last night after I heard about it. According to the messages in this thread, his Act Blue page had about $2,000 in donations before this started. I just checked and it's now $145,000.

Nothing they do surprises me anymore. It just shows how brainrupt they are

no. I'm not surprised. Nothing they do surprises me.
What did surprise me, though, was President Obama calling the deathers out on their lies -- and using the word "LIES". All I could think was "it's about time."

12. Obama fully discounted the Republican tales of councils aligned against the aging |
|
without calling them liars (although the inference is extremely clear). Obama told the truth. Republicans only obstruct for their own selfish purposes.

7. Probably planned by the RW |
|
That was to appeal to the far right tin-foil hatters out there to keep them thinking that yes, the President plans socialist death panels with this bill, see there's your "lone voice in the wilderness" screaming against the injustice.
I believe it was on purpose as a call to arms for that element that has been manipulated through AM radio and Fox News so masterfully.

9. I was also kind of wondering to myself |
|
what the effect of 9-9-9 had on that speech, and on the reaction of the Republican Party. They have to know they're cooked.
Of course, it's the day after, and there seems to be a significant and immediate effect on Mr. Wilson, doesn't there?

10. As PC said, the republican methods are becoming more and more obvious |
|
and simultaneously repulsive. The long fight between those who want to run the world and those who merely wish to live in it, deepens...as it's supposed to, as the old ways appear more and more ludicrous to more and more people.

11. I will admit it took me by surprise |
|
but then again, I'm not used to members of the government disrespecting the office of the president like that. :(
My first impression was that, no matter whether Wilson came up with the idea by himself or whether it was planned by the Republicans and Wilson was "elected" to do it, they want the far-right-wing nutjobs to have renewed faith that it's okay to keep planning their ridiculous "revolution". They will see Wilson as a "true patriot" :puke: and his outcry as a call to arms. Double :puke:.
