Sad news
I've just received word from my editor that Ted Andrews, author of Animal-Speak, has passed. (He had a column in the magazine I write for, and I had the honor of editing his column a few times.) No other details at the moment. Please send light and support to his wife and family.

Sigh. Depressed now. I know he can help a great deal from the Other Side, but he will be sorely missed on this plane. (Suppose we should get used to this kind of thing, huh?) He did such good animal rescue work, in addition to educating others.

Safe passage, Ted.

1. That's a surprise.
Over a decade has passed since I met him at a Light Show - neat person.

Safe passage - that's a wonderful way to hold him.

6. Can you let us know when the news is posted anywhere?

Several people I informed are quite bereft at the news and not wanting to believe it; they met him fairly recently evidently.

He really is most beloved.

Thanks again, MorningGlow.

7. Of course, OGR
I'm in shock myself, and my editor is very upset. She said the family didn't want to give out the details just yet (nothing sinister, though). I'll keep you posted.

9. Wow. Just recently became aquainted w/his work while researching animal totems on line.
He wasn't very old was he?
I hate that we will be loosing so many "good souls" before long. Many have gone of late.
May he continue to help us in his new place.

11. Here's a notice, MG....
The same friend I mentioned earlier just emailed this to me. I don't have time to do links and such, but the official notice of his passing has gone out. :(

1952 - Oct 24, 2009
Ted Andrews, acclaimed author, most notable for Animal Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small, born 1952, died on October 24, 2009. He is survived by beloved wife Kathy, other family, friends and fans too many to count. Everyone in the metaphysical genre knows his Animal Speak as the most comprehensive book on animal totems. Andrews said, “…all animals speak to those who listen. When we learn to speak with the animals…..the animals are no longer our subordinates. They become our teachers, our friends, and our companions.” Through the years I have bought dozens of this book to share with friends. Ted Andrews and his work will be missed.
Ted Andrews is an internationally recognized author, storyteller, teacher and mystic. A leader in the human potential, metaphysical and psychic fields, he has written over 40 books which have been translated into more than two dozen foreign languages. He is featured on many national and local TV and radio programs every year. He has won more Visionary Awards than any other author.
Ted is a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher. He presents sold-out seminars to thousands of people throughout the US and Canada every year, and his appearances are just as popular and in demand in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of Asia. In May 2002 he was specially invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York for his writings and work with animals.
This award winning and best selling author has been involved in the serious study of the esoteric and occult for more than 40 years, and he brings to the field an extensive formal and informal education. He served the public school system for ten years as a teacher and counselor, 7 of which were spent working with disadvantaged students, creating a special needs reading program for which he received both local and state recognition.
Called a true Renaissance man, Ted is trained in music, playing the piano since the age of 12. He has composed, performed and produced the music for ten spoken audio recordings. He can even scratch out a tune or two on the violin/fiddle. He is a long time student of sacred dance, ballet and kung fu. Ted is also schooled in a variety of related holistic healing modalities, including music therapy, herbology, hypnotherapy, acupressure and other alternative techniques. A clairvoyant since childhood, he has also been a certified spiritualist medium for nearly 30 years.
Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted holds state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. He performs wildlife rescue and he works with wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducts animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year, giving freely of his own time and expense to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his menagerie of animals, training and playing with his horses and ballroom dancing.

12. Thanks for this, OGR
I haven't heard back from my editor since she let me know about Ted, but I've noticed that many notices are now online that Ted died of cancer, so I suppose I can confirm that is true--that's what my editor told me earlier. I don't have any other details, however (what type of cancer, how long he was fighting it, etc.) Perhaps more info will come out later.
