Home remedies for COPD

If you or a loved one suffer from COPD or azma..here are some home solutions to help you or your loved ones suffer less and improve your lungs.
About 13 years ago..my husband was sent home to die by the hospitals and his doctors. They had all given up on him and they told us he had between about five weeks to five months left to live.
He was down to 98 lbs and at six foot in height...he was a skeleton of his former self.
We were devastated and he went to lay down on the couch saying..well I shall die right here I guess.
That pissed me off and I told him there was no way on earth I would let him die without a fight and trying to help him.
I found one of my friends who was on medical marijuana and I got him two "magic" brownies. I had to practically force him to eat them...but...he ate his whole supper that night..first time he had been able to eat more than a few mouthfuls for months.
I then went to the store and bought a large jar of local honey) and a whole lot of bananas. (I chose bananas because it was one of the fruits he would eat readily) I fed him honey and bananas and other fruits (tons of apples from our little orchard)....as much as I could stuff down him.
I stopped ALL pre-prepared foods and foods with preservatives and fed him home cooking and organic foods only.
I grew a lot of herbs and garden greens for him as well.
I used a lot of garlic in his meals to help keep up his immune system.
He could have coffee because it opened his passages but more often he drank either fruit juices or herbal teas. He liked the cinnamon apple tea the best.
When he had a shut-down (where the bronchial tubes collapse) I would make him calm by rubbing his back and slightly patting it while I made him growl like a wolf. :) The vibrations helped the tubes open back up and it also took his mind off the fear of not catching a breath which helped him relax enough to aid the tubes to re-open.
The next thing I did was go buy him a flute (a harmonica will work just as well) and made him blow on it twice a day.
It was terrible to hear the noises he made but soon...he was playing the flute! And quite beautifully I might add :).
He wrote me a love song on the flute which I still play..just to hear him again.
He told me that when I died he would come looking for me..and I would know it was him because he would be playing that song for me. :)
I realized that the air where we lived was not good for him and so I sold our big home and moved us to the country (within 20 minutes of the nearest hospital, 5 minutes to the local clinic and down the block from the fire department/aid unit)...My poor agent ran me around for weeks looking for the right place and she even did timing runs to check how close and safe the place was to the nearest help for him. She was a real trooper and went over and above the call of duty to help us get a better home.
I realize not everyone can move..but there may be other ways to clean up the air if possible.
He lived another nine and a half years..and by the time he passed away...he was strong enough in his lungs to sometimes go without his oxygen.
He gained the weight back to give his body something to fight the COPD with and he lived long enough to know and meet two more grand babies that he loved dearly.
I also gave him zaps every day...sometimes many times a day.
He did not die from COPD.
Although the doctors had given up on him..they insisted he stay on blood thinners and some medication for flem in his lungs. I had no choice but to allow that and I did.
He died from a massive heart attack while in the hospital for a routine safety stay (he always went in whenever he got a cold just to be safe)...drs claimed it was caused from the years of blood thinners which had forced his heart to work harder to pump his blood.
I post this here so that there may be someone that can be helped to live a longer better life.

3. What an inspiring story. How good that you didn't give up on him.

I have asthma and found that ephedra tea helped me but it's hard to get it these days because of those who abused it for recreational use. Living out in rural areas has lessened my attacks to only a few a year because of the fresh air. I too eat a lot of honey and it helps a lot too as well as coffee if I feel an attack might be coming on. Of course I'm never without my rescue inhaler.

7. so far I have gotten to see him only once...

It was almost a year after he passed away and it was in a dream.
I was not lucid dreaming but I did get to remember the dream.
In the dream I suddenly realized I was looking at him standing there all straight and tall and healthy looking and much younger looking than when he passed.
He was all dressed up like he used to like to do when he took me dancing before he got so sick.
He smiled at me for a moment and suddenly he did the little dance step he used to do whenever he would ask me to dance ..one hand on his tummy and the other hand raised..and a twinkle in his eye, a wiggle in the hips and a smile on his face..
That was all I remembered when I woke up..
but it was enough.
I knew he was telling me he was alright and fine again.
It made me smile all day.

6. Beautiful story...

My mother died from COPD and as my sisters both still smoke, I find myself gathering information for the 'day' I hear they may get it too.
