The magick in trees......
Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 11:07 PM by winyanstaz
Once, long ago...way to dang many moons ago..... :)
While meditating at my fire one night...I got to see the trees dance.
They were moving and weaving from the sky down to the earth.
It did not last long but I shall remember it forever.
It reminded me of a series of pictures of something moving in slow motion but with each stop in their weaving dance..the image of the tree seemed to stay while the tree itself kept dancing..and was still able to be seen.
To this day..the Standing on the Earth chant reminds me of their dance.

STANDING ON THE EARTH

Standing on the earth with my roots dug down.
Branches are wide open...
Down comes the sun...
Down comes the rain...
Down comes the fruit to the heart that is open to me.

Hazel

The Hazelnut tree is sacred to the wee folk.

It is said two hazelnut trees planted side by side can open a door to the fairy realm/astral plane so children are cautioned never to walk between two closely planted Hazelnut trees.

A forked Hazelnut branch is used for divining water and treasures in the earth.

All knowledge of the arts and science are bound by the hazelnut.

Sometimes a forked Hazel stick was used to divine the guilt of persons in cases of murder and theft.

A crooked Hazelnut wand is for the granting of wishes and it is considered lucky to carry a small twig of the Hazelnut tree.

Wisdom is associated with the Hazelnut along with wrath.

Because of the wee folks attachment to the wood it is an excellent conductor of energy...both positive or negative.

The Great Dragons/The Great Worms/Healers/Wizards of the ancients carried a Hazelnut staff...two twisted and grown together around the center one into one staff...with a pair of wings affixed at the top of the staff as the symbol of their office/powers. (The kundilini rising up the spine to the crown chakra)

That same staff symbol was stolen from the witches/healers of the past and is now used by the Doctors of today.

It is considered one of the best all-purpose woods for the construction of wands..although each tree has it's own special properties and magical uses too..still none are as versatile as the Hazelnut tree if you can find one.

If you get one...you can weave and braid the branches together to make wonderful staffs etc as it is very flexible and if you tell it what you intend it will help you form it...but as with all trees...it will take a while as trees are never in a hurry.

The Henry Walking Stick Hazelnut bush makes the very best wands, canes and staffs I think because it is already very twisty and spirals nicely.

One way to enlist the aid of plant and house fairies, is to string hazelnuts on a heavy thread and hang it up in your house.

Be sure to read to the bottom of this excellent site as it is well written and done......I particularly like the little love spell.............

Oak...

A very "masculine" wood and excellent choice for a man's wand or tools that need to be forceful.

The Oak is the tree of endurance, triumph, clearing the way, strength, charging and overcoming obsticles.

It has a lot of strength and power. It is ideal for the construction of any tool such as Athames, that needs the male influence as well as wands and staffs.

The oak tree is the tree of Zeus, Hercules, The Dagda (The Chief of the Elder Irish gods), Thor, Jupiter, and all other Thunder and male Gods. The royalty of the Oak is supreme.

The midsummer fire is always Oak.

The Oak was considered the most Sacred of all the Druidic trees used and is often associated with the King and all royalty.

The oak is endurance, strength, power, extraordinary great for energy conducting, attracting treasures and prosperity, self sacrifice, guardian, hero, ruler, and while dominant is also support.

This following site also has done their homework well and you might enjoy learning about more uses of different woods. :)

1. See, now you have me wanting a wiki for all this stuff again...

so much wisdom you share. A Winy Wiki of Wisdom would be so cool to have as a reference resource!

Thanks...

2. I'm making one
It's called copy and paste. ;-)

Thank you, Winy, for all the wonderful wisdom you share.

I have a tree story. Many years ago I moved into a house that had a huge tree out front. Don't recall now what kind it was but it had a dead branch that looked in danger of falling. So I got my ladder and saw and took it off. Then I noticed lots of branches and twigs that were all dried out. I ended up spending hours clearing them all out.

A week or so later I was getting out of my car in front of the house and I noticed the tree was all covered with green sprouts and I suddenly "heard" the words "thank you." It was the most overwhelming feeling in my solar plexus and it literally made me weak in the knees for a few seconds. I've never forgotten it.

This happened long before "The Secret Life of Plants" came out.

10. I will soon have a link to an on line site that my son is making for me...
The first one up will be our music and music of other artists (metaphysical music mostly but there will be other venues as well.) And then he is making me an on line teaching site where I can put my book I wrote for people to download and also a few booklets I have already written and charts I use in my classes... and the tons of on line classes I have done over the years. :P

One day I would like to have a virtual reality magic shop..where you can look at the items as well as learn things about them and meet teachers and have magical adventures etc...just for fun :P

I have a lot of artist friends who used to make items for the metaphysical shops I used to own. :)

It's taken a while for him to learn how to do this but now he is making sites and doing a good job and mine is next :)

6. Besides being a tree hugger from way back, I believe as the pagans
do that we get much of our spiritual power from the trees and the elementals use them and other plants as homes.

7. Very nice.
I'd known nothing of what you've posted.

My mystery school teacher mentioned that the intelligence in trees, which he says is considerable, rests at the top. If you sit with your back to a tree for long enough, it will eventually notice you (they are possible at a slower speed than we are), and will be possibly open for sharing.

Beautiful. I absolutely adore trees, and thank them often, in every form I encounter them: furniture, in the wild, in smoke form especially.

Thank You trees.

12. That's really interesting about the intelligence being at the top.
Many times, people "top off" trees when they cut them/have them trimmed. We refuse to do that. I'm glad to hear that our feeling that it's wrong is correct.

15. That's what I was thinking too
I know of a home owners association that ordered trees be "topped" because they obscured the view of other properties.

21. I hear a bit of teeth grinding in your post and I agree.
I'd far rather look at trees than other houses. OVER cut-off trees.

Out here in Los Angeles, they plant trees all the way along under the telephone lines. Not considering that trees grow...(slaps forehead repeatedly).

16. My oak tree in our front parkway
is magnificent and definitely has an imposing presence. She's a girl as she flowers at the top in the spring and I thank her for her acorns in the fall which feeds our neighbor squirrels. She's a beauty and gives me strength in the mornings.

17. That's lovely.
My husband and I feel the same way about the few trees on our property. (We live in a townhouse, so many of the trees around us are either owned by the homeowner's association or are neighbors' trees.) We have one that we take care of that doesn't actually legally belong to us, but it's what we see when we look out of our front windows. We've spent money having her respectfully pruned and also fed.

This past summer, I came home one day to find that one of our neighbors two doors down was having one of the trees exactly like this tree in the front being cut down. They said that it had to be done because the roots were causing problems with another neighbor's driveway. I logically understand why it had to be done, but my heart ached not only for our loss but the loss to this favorite tree of mine. I felt as though I could feel its sadness at what was happening. My husband and I tried the best that we could to make it clear to it that it was safe.

The neighbor who officially owns the tree that we love is now in the process of selling her townhouse. I hope that the new owner will help us to protect our friend. That's what I'm putting out there to the Universe.

18. I have somewhat the same concern here
about roots and our connection to the city sewer... I have seen other neighbors having to cut down trees as the roots adversely effect the pipes. I have 'visioned' this to our oak tree and asked her to avoid those pipes that must run within 5 feet of her trunk. So far so good.

19. :) that was good of you to do that...
Plants can "hear" and understand us.
They have done tests with plants...had them taken care of for a long time by one provider who was kind and good to the plant...hooked both the provider and the plant up to lie detector machines...and the plants register what the person is experiencing..excitement, fear, etc even when miles apart. They even registered almost off the chart when the provider experienced an orgasm...many miles away from the plant.
The plants also showed fear when threatened with fire or when an animal like a dog came into the room.
They are alive..they have a level of consciousness..not as complicated as our own but they are very much aware.
