Help! My hands are too fat!
more precisely, bloated. This has been a daily aggravation for a couple months at least. I've read that Wellbutrin can cause bloated hands in some people, or alleviate it in others. I stopped taking Wellbutrin a few weeks ago after my latest failed attempt to quit smoking. That's the only cause for this I can think of. Any suggestions? This is a huge pain in the butt for someone who plays guitar.

1. Need to reduce bloat?
Cut way back on salty foods. Eat lightly, lots of fresh greens, fruits, and whole grains. Don't drink soda or sports/juice "drinks," or alcohol. Drink gallons of water. Go to your local healthfood store and pick up a "detox" tea.

I don't honestly know anything about the effects of welbutrin, but all of the above help me combat the monthly hormonal bloat.

5. Things are looking up!
:hi:

I'm almost ready to unpack books; I've got a few more pieces of furniture to move in, but I'm finally beginning to feel like I'm not camping out in the place.

The grandboy is thriving; growing, gaining, learning, and becoming more secure every day. The horse girls are settled in, and I'm riding my youngster regularly. I have miles of public land on the other side of my back fence to wander in, and we trailered out 30 minutes to the national forest last week to wander the ponderosa trails and play in the river.

We have a flock of chicks, now 4 weeks old, growing by the day. I spend way too much time sitting out in the chicken coop/run. They are so peaceful and happy, it makes a great place to meditate. If you can believe it, lol.

I still have 2 feral cats that need to give in and get in the traps, so I can have them spayed/neutered. The 2 kittens collected from the barn that I didn't find a home for are taking over the whole house, and my senior cat has finally resigned herself to their presence.

I'm also working a couple days a week, and will be back full time the week after next.

Ask, and you get way more info than you bargained for ;-)

Hope you're staying cool down south.

:loveya:

4. Remember though, if you drink lots of water,
you will also urinate a lot. This depletes minerals in your body. Particularly potassium. Eat a banana now and then to replace the potassium..very important mineral.

I hate bananas :( (well, maybe "hate" is a little strong. I certainly don't like them)

8. I had that problem with Wellbutrin...only worse.
My hands were almost paralyzed with pain...arthritic type pain....for about 3 weeks, before I figured out it was the Wellbutrin. (Duh!) Before they started hurting that bad, they were simply swollen.

Also, the top of my ears kept itching!! I mention that, because 2 other people I knew that took Wellbutrin also had little pimple like things come up on one or both of their ears that itched.

Anyway....my doctor told me to put Castor Oil on my hands. I thought he was nuts, but I did it anyway.

THAT was when I started studying how many OTHER things Castor oil is so good for! It's magic stuff!

After sleeping with Castor Oil on my hands (wearing cotton gloves) the first night, it all started getting better. Within the span of 2 days, I was fine.

And...it's cheap!

Have you tried the Patch to quit smoking? The generic patches didn't work for me at all, but the Nicoderm ones did. (Go figure!) They're more expensive, but at least they were helpful!

10. I tried the patch (generic)
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 03:47 AM by Crab Nebula
didn't work too well. How well do the Nicoderms stick to you? At work I'm very physically active and sweaty and the patches would fall off. So far the welbutrin has come closest. I cut smoking in half with no effort at all; my biggest problem is that I actually enjoy smoking on occasion (or so I've been lead to believe) and I haven't built up the willpower yet for the final push. Castor Oil? that sounds gross but I'll try it if diet modification doesn't work. How often have you had to apply it, and are you still on welbutrin? I plan to have another go at quitting and get back on welbutrin in the not-too-distant future.

12. Here are the herbs that worked miracles for me for quitting
Worth every penny, but there's a money-back guarantee, so there's no risk at all. The one thing i would say is to be sure to be totally committed to quitting, else no program will work.

I had MAYBE six -- count 'em SIX -- episodes of fairly brief nicotine cravings on this program and quit utterly cold turkey. It is miraculous, IMO. I did have (and in truth occasionally still do) the psychological craving, or the habitual craving, and those too are brief and easy to get over. They have an aromatherapy component for those occasions. I found it worked well for me whether the craving was for nicotine or whether it was a psychological/habitual/ritual need I was experiencing.

Anyway, here's the link:

And while you're at it, here's another tool that can help with -- well, almost anything you can think of:

I quit Dec. 10, cold turkey (with the help of the herbs), and couldn't be happier. It's NICE not being a smoker anymore. I like not having to think about "when/where can I smoke?" I like saving the money. I like feeling better. My little smokers' hack was completely gone the next morning.

Good luck! You can do it!

11. so you're talking
Edgar Cayce. He advocated castor oil for a multitude of issues. Must be magick. I should look into that more. Thanks for the reminder.

13. How is your blood pressure?
If you are retaining lots of fluid, depending on your age I guess, your blood pressure can go up. In which case, you should do something about it, like take a diuretic.

There are natural, accessible diuretics.

You might want to check into why it is happening.
