Just checking guys. I got into a very heated debate on GD last night regarding JFK being a "MYTH". If this doesn't get through, I always have the other site. DU is getting too toxic for me....my blood pressure can't take it! On that whole PO, after I alerted on this guy two times, I was the only one to get deleted!!:shrug: Feedback please...even if you have to PM me!!

No ..it was my message that was deleted. One other person before mine, up the thread was also deleted. The PO title was John Kennedy was a myth...or someting close to that. It got a lot of responses...but no recommendations. It never made the greatest page, so you may have to go back a few pages to find it. It was on late last night. blood pressure and will let the good discussions and threads rise on your personal DU. It will also lessen your chances of getting a pizza delivery. Arguing with ignoramuses just isn't worth it on most days and if you are trying to dispel disinformation most of us know what's genuine and what isn't. All you are doing is feeding the trolls and upsetting yourself otherwise.

24. ignore saved my DU! before i thought what once was beautiful was irrevocably lost...

now i put particularly noisome people on there and regularly check off who gets a tombstone after a while. i have a pretty good track record, deleting around 2 a month on average from my ignore list.

other times i'm just a pisser and can't take anymore the cyclical endless debates and cult of personality cliques. but those people i end up taking off of my ignore after things cool down. that's a "nothing personal - i just need a break from you" ignore. too much personality overwhelming my space starts to leave me in unhappy agitated land, but that's just me.

15. What I've noticed when a post is deleted is that it does appear

that you've been TS'd, when it's really just some weird function of the deletion result. I've seen regulars that are still posting elsewhere with a deleted post where a click on their profile says they've been TS'd. It can be alarming until you do a search on their name and find that's not the case. It would be so much better if they could just say "post deleted" and not have that bit about the TS come up, too, but I guess it's not a priority in changing the software.

As for the energy of this place, I don't know if it's a trend or that just more of the "arguing for the sake of arguing" types are just out in force. I had one in LBN this morning. Sure, I admit some of my logic might have been flawed, but the ones that argue like it's their living jump on those weaknesses. The topic often ceases to matter, instead replaced by arguing nuances about your choice of words and so on. It's tiring and a huge energy drain trying to counter those methods and easier to just tell them "okay, you win!" even if they haven't. It's just not worth the headache (which I have now...)

The only president I can remember seeing and it wasn't up close at all was Nixon. But I was also only in 4th grade at the time, so what did I know about his politics ;)

That's cool you were able to meet him. Every time the movie "Thirteen Days" comes on, I watch it. I don't know if JFK was exactly as depicted, but the movie sure makes that event seem real, for both the characters and the events. I can't imagine the kind of pressure he was under during that time. I can't think of any other event bearing on our presidents since then that comes close in its harrowing nature. We should all be eternally grateful that he was intelligent enough to make the right decisions and not start a nuclear war.
