Ugh, upsetting dream last night
It was raining. I was trying to get MG Jr. off to school on time, and Mr. MG had already left for work. I was in the kitchen, and the blue painted floor was darker in some places. For a minute I couldn't figure out why, then I realized rain was coming through the ceiling (even though the master bedroom is above the kitchen). I went upstairs, and sure enough, the roof was leaking--soaking the bed. I ran around the house and found a couple more leaks in other rooms. Woke up and thought it was real for a few moments.
:scared:

I did a little googling about leaky roofs and found lots of very different interpretations. Does anybody have one that they've found to be a sure thing? Thanks! :hi:

1. Not a "sure thing," but to me that suggests anxieties about the security of your home and family.
And possibly that mounting pressures on your primary relationships are about to "spill over" (or through, in this case.)

2. That could be
Anxiety is a pretty tenacious feeling--I'm sure it can surface when I least expect it.

I wish there were more context in the dream. Usually my dreams are very long and detailed, with lots of symbolism that almost always leads me to a pretty clear interpretation, but not this one. Hmmm...

"It's Raining Men" when I read your OP. LOL

But more seriously, water is emotion. If it's leaking into your newly renovated home onto the floor from the heavens, it's time to ground your visions, follow your guidance, and take a stand for yourself or else your stance may become a slightly and increasingly slippery slope.

Is there something you feel that your trying to shield your family from darlin'. . .?

We all do that.

:grouphug:

On the upshot, if you frame it as a cleansing, it may help.

ps & FYI Did you know the origin of the expression "It's raining cat's and dogs" . . .?

If not then here it is. . .In Medieval times everyone but the upper class had thatched roofs and their pets slept on top of the roofs. So in heavy rain, that expression was in fact, a reality.

Good to "see" you here!

Something I'm trying to shield my family from? How about a zillion things! I am the family Atlas, and I'm not talking the book of maps. Or perhaps it's more apt to say Sisyphus, come to think of it. ;)

"Raining Men"--snerk! Gah, it's tough enough with just the two, thanks all the same! :P (On edit: I mean husband and SON, if anybody out there is thinking I like to get around! :P )

Good idea about using it as cleansing--but first I need to abolish the panic that was in the dream (and that lingered after I woke up). That won't help--!

I did not know that about raining cats and dogs! I will file that away in my "cool medieval info" cabinet, along with all the trashy gossip about the royals that my European history teacher loved to share, back in high school, for future reference and possible future use in a pub "tournament of knowledge"! :hi:

7. Panic

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=panic

Whenever I have I client who's really freaked out about one thing or another, I always facetiously say, "I recommend panic. That *always* works."

The raining men meme was by no means to be a suggestion of wild Dionysian promescuity. I thought it was just funny that particular song popped into my head.

As for the remedy for panic, there are droves of them of which I'm sure you are well aware.

Just don't forget to BREATHE.

Okay ?

8. Darn, I lost my "run around in circles and panic" smiley in my laptop flameout
Or, rather, laptop drowning. x( But if I had it, I would use it here! :)

LOL no worries about promiscuity--definitely not! And it WAS funny that that song came up!

Breathe. Right. That's in/out/repeat, if I recall correctly, no?

13. The fourth one--there it is!
Thanks! :hi: (I love all the other ones too!) I think the mirror one is kind of "take a look in the mirror before you criticize others".

15. Gee MG
Didn't know you were a blonde. . .

Totally dumb joke.

But if you want to make it *really* complicated. . .

http://homeopathyplus.com.au/superbrain.html

Worth 3 minutes a day I figure.

It may just be that simple. Who knows. . .?

16. That is really unusual!
Are there any theories as to why that works? Acupressure points in the ear lobes? (And yeah, for three minutes a day, it might indeed be worth it...!)

17. As far as I can glean
It is said to balance the right and left lobes of the brain and stimulates cranial circulation.

I had sent the links to my SIL. I saw my brother this morning and he said she had three of her grandchildren doing it before they went to school this morn.

She cares for them before they get on the bus 'cause their parents are both teachers so they go to work early.

I said, "OMG their gonna have ear lobes down to their knees before they're 20, but they'll probably out smart us all.

LOL

They'd better given the world they're inheriting.

Yikes.

Do tell bright eyes. He may get a kick out of it.

Tell him his silly cyber fairy godmother sent it to you. :)

5. I rely on others to interpret for me and have one good site for that:
The Curious Dreamer

Input all of your key words at once.
Your dream seems to have only a handful of major ones:
rain leaking roof bed

Here are their interpretations:

bed
Your romantic relationship, especially communication and emotional intimacy within a relationship
Your inner thoughts or relationship within yourself
Security and safety, especially emotional

See also: communication ... furniture ... asleep ... pillow
Category: Objects

leaking
Loss or loss of control. Dreaming that something is leaking, such a fluid out of a container, can represent a feeling or fear of:
Something dwindling, disappearing, or being lost
Something slipping out of your hands or out of your control
Someone or something getting away from you
Information or secrets being leaked
Someone's energy, patience, or other supply running low
Integrity being compromised somehow (in a person, a container, a dam, etc.)
Your security being challenged
Also, consider what is leaking and what it represents, and what's causing it to leak.

See also: being betrayed ... telling on someone ... depleted ... container ... liquid ... hole overflowing ... spilling
Category: Activities ... Events

rain
A gift or assistance from God
Nourishment and replenishing (as rain nourished plants)
Spiritual presence
Cleansing, washing away the old, and starting new

Unwelcome rain can represent:
A feeling of actual or feared challenge, punishment, bad luck, or untimely circumstances in your life somehow
Nuisance, frustration, challenge, criticism, or a perceived attempt by someone else to "ruin your fun" or be a "downer"
"Dark" emotions such as depression, anger, or despair
See also: wind ... clouds ... weather ... flood ... storm ... body of water ... wet ... hail
Category: Conditions Objects

roof
Protection from the world or from "the elements"
A last step or finishing touch, as a roof is the last part finished when a house is built
Something that seems over your head or unattainable
A lid or a cap—a limitation on how high you can go or how much progress you can make
The greatest, highest, or utmost
A higher or insightful perspective, as you would have if you were on a roof looking down
See also: house ... building ... ceiling ... main floor ... floor ... high ... the top of
Category: Objects Places

...

Hope that helps! :hi:

11. Or maybe just a warning to keep you diligent in making sure your roof doesn't leak?
Didn't you recently hear water dripping into your attic over your bedroom? I recall reading something like that from either here or Facebook. Did that get resolved? If it were my dream, I'd run into my bathroom to see if my roof finally caved in over my bathtub!! The skylite has been leaking for three years, and because I haven't been able to afford to fix the roof, I finally had a tarp put over it this winter!!

14. Ah, a practical interpretation!
Actually we did have the leak taken care of right away, but there's no denying we need a whole new roof... x(

6. How about the failing markets starting with Greece?
Thom Hartmann discussing the "wolf pack" who is making Greece's economy fail because they can make a million dollars on a seventy thousand investment. Then they plan to do the same to Spain, Portugal, England and California. Your leaks reminded me of these holes in the global economy with the rain coming down on all countries as a result of the holes getting bigger and bigger. I don't know what the interpretations are that you came across so this is what came to mind while reading your post as I was listening to Thom Hartmann at the same time.

10. You know, I think it's something a little closer to home
Something more personal to me, I mean--I'm getting that impression. But I can see how it seems like it could apply to all the world chaos going on right now.

Maybe it's both--personal and global--after all, there's a lot of upheaval going on on both levels (and all levels) lately...! :hi:
