tv shows on ghosts
I have a question for those who watch programs like a&e's Psychic Kids - do they *ever* try to help spirits cross over? I haven't watched any of these type programs in a long time. I used to watch Rescue Mediums on WE TV and really liked them. They would send light to help the spirit. Only once do I remember them trying to force and in that case it was a very negative spirit and which I wonder if it had even been human. This really makes me angry to see these people trying to make contact, some even taunting spirits to try to get a reaction their device can record without trying to help - whether it is for the sake of the spirit or anyone who might get the dickens shocked out of them by one. Seriously can't they think when they die do they themselves wish to get stuck in some old mental hospital or other place and their only amusement for decades, centuries even, is making the occasional noise and giving people goosepimples??? sheesh.

1. I have felt guilty
many years ago a man was accidentally killed while working on his car when the jack, either badly placed or defective, tipped. He live on a road I frequently travel and soon after the accident I thought I sensed him but this was during my denial phase so I pushed away the sensations as hard as I could because I was afraid of being psycho on top of just dealing with an anxiety disorder. What I remember was a depressed/anxious feeling that turned to desperation as I pushed the feelings away as if he finally found someone who could detect him and then slammed the door in his face.

Later when I started accepting psychic phenomena and that I could be sensitive too, that it didn't just happen to a gifted few, I remembered what happened and thought of trying to help. I send reiki a few times but not for long as it always brought up the fear of being thought seriously crazy even if I really would not medically qualify.

Then a couple of weeks ago I felt this presence as I was falling asleep. Not feeling capable or safe enough to drag myself from my nearly asleep state to attempt anything I mentally thought in his direction 'I will try tomorrow. go away until then.' It took a couple of visits before I actually remembered in a normal wide awake state enough to do it. Then I grounded, called in my guides and sent reiki to his High Self until I felt like it was enough for the time being. I did this two or three times before I felt like his energy lightened and then the energy around him became what I would call celestial, I felt a spark of joy and then nothing. OK so I figured it was done. Then last week when i passed by his former home when I was focused on getting him and getting something to eat I felt a jolt of happiness from it's direction as if I was hit by a lightening bolt of joy to my heart :) It felt like a thank you :)

2. That was a wonderful story and experience for you.
It's great it had a happy outcome :)

The TV shows you mention and whatever others out there are done that way to attract an audience, not necessarily do any good spiritually. I think I caught the end of Psychic Kids once and wondered what the hell was going on. It didn't appeal to me at all. Another show called "A Haunting" does portray spirits getting sent to the other side, though their focus is on the worst-case scenarios and not the average "lost spirit". The latter isn't "exciting" to your average TV-viewer, so it's not a ratings-getter ;)

The only personal experience I have with someone that passed was about 25 years ago when I became sickened with a strong feeling of "something's very wrong" for a few minutes. I didn't learn until later that a classmate from highschool band had been murdered the night before at the car shop where she worked. (The backstory is that she and some of the other office people were working late and were surprised by the local Vietnamese mafia showing up in a case of the wrong address. So, they left no witnesses to their screw-up.) I didn't know then about sending Light, Love and so forth, though I have had people sensitive to such things tell me that was my friend's way of letting me know, and that I must have meant something to her.

5. Thank you
I still feel bad it too me so long to try to help the fellow. I will use it to motivate me to pay attention to the things I pick up and do what I can to help.

A Haunting - I think I saw one episode of that and it scared the dickens out of me! Major heavy duty malevolent spirits that took major exorcism-like ritual to stop :hides: and I don't think it really got rid of it, only put a bandaid on it so to speak :hides: It turned me off from watching paranormal shows for quite a while. It didn't help that back then I didn't know any psychic self-defense so i was nervous at the thought of encountering anything like that myself.

3. I really hate the "not encouraging ghosts to cross over" part of reality shows on the paranormal.
It's insane.

4. Do they really think the spirit enjoys knocking and wailing around an old inn for centuries
or even just hanging around their old suburban home watching the current owners live their lives whenever they can get out of the whirl of emotion that got them stuck to begin with to detect physical reality? It really bothers me to think that the ghost phenomena that is not just a thought form impression but an actual spirit or soul fragment of an individual being stuck like that having someone know they are there and not even try.

This really gets to me now as I am dragging myself out of a depression and all I can think is how rotten is must be for people to have no one throw you a rope when you are emotionally drowning. I had people who helped me when I was in my stuck bad place. I wish more of these shows would do the same for the ghosts at least once they are done trying to get them to jiggle their ghost detecting gizmos.

6. Your analogy of a ghost and depression was beautiful
It helps, at least it helps me, to think of a ghost as a soul or soul fragment who is stuck and needs assistance to leave this plane.

Your analogy shows compassion.

7. I am primarily an empath so I pick up emotions more than anything
what I have felt around these situations usually is lethargy, confusion, like wandering in a fog stumbling around and finally seeing something clearer and more visible namely the sensitive and grabbing on for dear life someone finally sees/hears me please don't go. this is why I send to the person's higher self so I don't get caught in their emotional whirl with my history of panic disorder. Me having a panic attack won't do anyone any good. I send until I feel like they have received all they can for the time being or I get that *very* high vibrational energy feeling near where I feel the person and then no longer feel the person. I always send with the intention that it is for the highest good in the time and manner that serves the recipient best and that they have the option to refuse.
