Does it seem like there are more deaths lately? |
|
I've been to six funerals in the last three months. I can never remember that there were ever this many in such a short time before.
Some were majorly intense (my daughter's 8 year old classmate killed while riding his skateboard) some were anticipated and prepared for (my Uncle who had been in poor health for a long time) a few of others were older friends or neighbors who just died unexpectedly.
I talked to my Mom tonight and she told me my Aunt just went into a coma in a hospice. They do not expect her to be with us much longer.
A man I used to live with made the observation once that the older you get the more dead people you know.
I have to ask--have any of you guys seen this same thing going on?

We went through a period like that three years ago. Five family members (including 3 parents), two family friends, and my daughter's bf in just a few months' time. Scary when the funeral directors start greeting you by first name. I had a pant suit in that era that I called my "funeral suit". Needless to say we had some depression to deal with after that, but eventually we went back to sporadic losses. I know what you mean though - you start feeling marked and like it will never stop.

2. My daughter asked me about that the other day. |

She really was wondering if somehow it was her connection to everyone that made it happen. I tried to explain to her that it was happening AROUND her, not because of (or TO) her. The poor little kid is still sorting it all out.
I dunno--I do think that there are souls who are moving on these days, that somehow, this departure time was part of the soul's contract. Having said that, however, I have started to look at ALL the death going on worldwide (Tsunamis, and hurricanes and wars and famines) and I have begun to wonder at it all.
I agree that it is unnerving to have the funeral directors know you by name. It is equally freaky to sit in a funeral and know what will be said because you sat thru a similar service just a couple of weeks before.
Thanks.

this year that are more than usual. I think that there is a reason for this.
