The Daily Psychic
We were talking about resuming this thread. I decided I'll host the thread and keep it kicked until it takes off.

Here's the idea: Post the intuitive experiences, psychic flashes, dreams, etc., that you have on a daily basis, even if you don't know what it means. Maybe over time, it will become apparent.

I just made up the name "The Daily Psychic" off the top of my head. We can always change it if anyone can come up with something better. I know a lot of people here don't think of themselves as psychic per se.

I'll get the discussion going with an account of what happened to me last night.

Yesterday I was very excited because my department head told me there's a chance I'll be teaching a course I have wanted to teach for three years. I was lying in bed, awake, thinking about what texts I might use and going over ideas that I had for the class.

I heard (I've had other clairaudient experiences, so this was no surprise) one of my students making a sound, "Kapow," like he was shooting a toy gun. Shortly thereafter, I knew which student it was.

I just really have no idea what this could mean. I've thought about if it could be symbolic; for example, my student shooting down an idea that isn't practical. Somehow, though, this doesn't resonate.

So, I'm baffled about this one but there is no question about hearing the voice and what it said.

1. Hi there.
I will post what comes to me, no matter how off the wall it may seem at the time.

2. I will post when
there is something to post. I just have no idea what that would symbolize- a student shooting off a toy gun. Or, actually, just saying "kapow". It certainly sounds harmless. Maybe just a way of placing this student into your consciousness, so that you will recognize him in class? Maybe some sort of harmless aggressiveness, or thought-provoking discourse. Anyway, it will be interesting for you when you do discover the meaning of "kapow".

4. thanks for the ideas
I'll be pondering them.

The one tie in to your suggestion, FreedomAngel, is that this student admitted he'd become a political junkie as a result of things I've talked about in class. Otherwise, this student and I do not have a close relationship.

The tie-in is that the new class is on social activism.

Still "noodlin"...

12. That seems like a positive tie in .. does it not?
I mean .. this student has already taken another class and picked up on (correct me if I'm wrong) the very subject you have an opportunity to teach. You've already started teaching it! Don't know why he would say "kappow", but it did bring HIM into your consciousness.

Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 12:29 PM by BlueIris
I've been looking at the room around me and suddenly, it has felt as if I am seeing it for the first time after many years, far away. It is the strangest feeling ever. Not quite dejavu, not quite depersonalization, more like the kind of sensation a person would feel if she were temporarily transported to the future and given the opportunity to look at the past with her "old" eyes. Very weird. But since I'm currently trying to change residences and considering a move to a different state, this sensation gives me hope that a) I will get out in time, b) I will get to where I'm going and c) frankly, there is a future for me to move into. That's important. Also, last night, I was thinking about stellanoir's "just got back from the future" thread, wondering if anyone would find it and post in it, and today I see, someone has!

6. This afternoon, I was thinking randomly about
a post-card confession I sent to a website called PostSecret. Some of you may know about it--a man named Frank Warren puts up secrets sent to him on post-cards every week on his blog. He's published three of mine in total, one of which was once featured in the Washington Times--the WT publishes one "extra" secret from Warren's site each week, in addition to the ones he puts up on Sundays. The secret that he kicked over to the WT was the most positive one I sent in, mailed in response to his request that more "secrets of optimism and joy" be submitted to the site. Today, I thought, I wonder if that secret, or either of my other two, were selected for the recently published PostSecret book (now on sale)? I went to Amazon and was surprised to find out that the "positive" secret had been chosen as one of the "look inside" icons for that item. Crazy. I'm glad that I sent Warren that post-card, but this is one of the stranger intuitive things to have happened to me this week, and it is suddenly very strange for me to think that one of my secrets has now been viewed by thousands and thousands of people.

Cool that you are now "published" even if it is incognito...

I've gotten instant nudges like that a time or two.

Right now, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are on my mind. No clue why, just thought I'd throw that out there into the universe.

15. Well, I'm still wondering if my other secrets, the painful ones, also are.
I know it sounds strange, but I'd almost prefer that the painful ones were also out there. They represent relatively common problems people have feelings in reaction to, yet never discuss for fear of rejection, inappropriate reactions or judgment from those they might confide in. I'd love it if the readers of Warren's book got some clue about how a person feels when they carry around those secrets.

Right now I am completely devoid of much in the way of energy--let alone any sort of intuitions or flashes. That will probably change however, with a few days of down time here over the hoidays...

I'm not sure WHAT is going on, however, because lately I have been seeing a lot of stuff out of the corner of my eye--which is usually an indicator that SOMETHING is afoot. I'm sure it will manifest soon enough. I'll put it up when it does.

8. Yesterday, I was thinking about the former "best 'friend'" I had
who never called or wrote me about hanging out except when it was convenient for her, who liked to belittle and criticize me, who turned into one of the most vapid, superior people during the past few years and who finally took the opportunity to let me know our "friendship" was over by not returning my heart-broken e-mail about my grandfather's painful death from lung cancer (then there was the whole matter of her declaring she wasn't doing anything to support the Democratic effort in '04). I was thinking how relieved I was that I'd wised up to the abusive nature of the relationship--even if it took her rejection to make me recognize the level of dysfunction that had existed between us. Early this morning, I was going through my answering machine messages from yesterday and noticed that she had called me. Ack. That's one I'm glad I missed.

Seriously, guys, what's going on? Have there been a lot of solar flares recently or something? My intuition is never this consistently active unless we've had some solar flare activity going on.

I've lost more friends this past year than in the previous 50.

I don't assume solar flares. I don't know what it is, but it hurts like hell.

It is making me into a new person. I can't allow people to use me up anymore. They have to stop or go away. I cannot argue with people who do not understand that george walker bush is a destructive agent on our beloved planet. I cannot carry one more person's load. I've done it. I'm d.o.n.e. Over.

Sometimes we feel such pain and anguish over the condition of our universe, from the smallest soul up to the galaxy. Iris... I'm telling myself this too, we cannot do it. We are not responsible for the survival of the universe. Someone else has that job. Who? I do not know. But it ain't me. It was here before me and will survive after. So, take a deep breath, and live in the moment. ahhh

10. Tonight, I was just thinking about that oldish thread on DU
that I believe was entitled "America's rents deemed unaffordable." I was wondering what happened to that thread, and if the rent rate of a small house or larger apartment was going to be any better for America's consumers in 2006 than it was in 2005. Then, just now, I logged into my Hotmail and saw that a new study on America's unaffordable rents had been highlighted as one of the featured links on the day.

13. Corgi synchronicity
The other day my friend told me she was thinking of adopting a dog. She was thinking about a Corgi and she sent me some cute pics of a Corgi who is up for adoption. I responded that she was adorable and my friend should adopt her.

Today I was at the library and this guy kept trying to strike up a conversation with me. Everywhere I went, there he was. He was OK but I'm not "in the market," so to speak, so I tried to get away from him but wherever I went, there he was!

Long story short, as I headed toward my car, I saw he was parked next to me. I decided to duck into the bushes until he left. Well, he didn't leave! Sheesh!! He even got out a rag and cleaned something off his car. Then he started doing something else with the rag, like cleaning off the hubcaps. I was getting sick of this! I headed back into the library and decided to look at a magazine to kill time because no way was I going to have a conversation with him. I picked up Country Home and was immediately entranced with some of the holiday decorating that had a natural theme. There was a picture of a hallway and in the hall was this beautiful rug with harlequin pattern. I was struck by the colors because the hallway and the rug reminded me so much of a new rug that my Corgi-interested friend had just put down in her hallway. In fact, the colors of the hall were like those at her house.

I was very focused on the rug and the colors and then I looked on the left side of the picture and what was there? A Corgi! On the staircase!

17. OK, here's a good one
I may have mentioned my friend who has lots of synchronicities happen to her.

Tonight we drove about 30-40" to upstate NY to pick up a car we purchased. She will use the car for now and I will buy it from her in a few months. It's a car with all-wheel drive that we need for special snow/ice circumstances on mountains.

Anyway, we have both been rather flakey because we are both on "overload"--too much work, too much stress, and too little time to take care of it all.

So after my friend left my house with the new car tonight, I realized I couldn't find my cell phone. I emailed her about it.

What's funny is that she realized she left her own cell phone in her other car, which she left here!

But the really funny part is we both emailed each other about leaving the cellphones within a minute of each other and we both said the same thing in our emails to each other.

So we both made the same mistake, realized it at the same time, wrote to each other within a minute of each other and we each wrote the same line to the other.

I am chuckling just thinking about this. Life is so funny sometimes.

18. Wow...I just saw this thread and immediately had an experience!
I'll explain. Looking at this group (and this is the last thread I was looking at) I was reminded that I've been wondering about this Nostradamus prediction I remember seeing a film about years ago.

The prediction had something to do with a third world war and someone from the middle east in a blue turban, but I couldn't remember more. I thought I was probably getting it wrong, rather than bothering you all with this I should go look it up first.

But before I did, I went and clicked on GD and this is the first thing I saw - a post on Nostradamus!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x79092

I cannot ever recall seeing a Nostradamus thread on DU! (Maybe there have been some in this group before that I didn't know about?)

How strange! Anyway, I'm off now to look up that blue turban thing I can't quite remember.

Here is the quatrain that you are referring to:

Et regnera moins reuolu Saturne,
Roy Turban blanc Bizance coeur ban,
Sol,Mars,Mercure pres la hurne.

The Blue Turban King entered into Foix
And he will reign less than a rotation of Saturn.
The White Turban King Byzantium heart banished,
Sun, Mars and Mercury near the urn.

source: http://www.nostradamusresearch.org/en/quatr/09-73.htm

Back in the late 70's (Late Great Planet Earth, see http://imdb.com/title/tt0079445/) that talked about the prophecies of Nostradamus. It had an effect on me as you can tell by my DU name. Anyway, as I recall they talked about the blue turban.

20. An invasion could take many forms.
A lot of people think that China could invade the U.S. militarily. This may be possible, but I think it would also be very destructive for both countries (.i.e. WWIII) and result in a no-win situation that might bring down the curtain on civilization.

If there is a conflict, though, I've always believed that it will be mostly if not entirely economic or financial in nature.

The Chinese currently own $800 Billion in US debt, and are said to be losing confidence in the US' ability to pay that debt back. If China calls the US debts due, the degree of fallout from the ensuing economic collapse will make the United States look like it has been militarily devestated.

China Set To Reduce Exposure To Dollar
Move Would Probably Push Currency Down

By Peter S. Goodman
Washington Post Foreign Service
Tuesday, January 10, 2006; D01

SHANGHAI, Jan. 9 -- China has resolved to shift some of its foreign exchange
reserves -- now in excess of $800 billion -- away from the U.S. dollar and
into other world currencies in a move likely to push down the value of the
greenback, a high-level state economist who advises the nation's economic
policymakers said in an interview Monday.

As China's manufacturing industries flood the world with cheap goods, the
Chinese central bank has invested roughly three-fourths of its growing
foreign currency reserves in U.S. Treasury bills and other
dollar-denominated assets. The new policy reflects China's fears that too
much of its savings is tied up in the dollar, a currency widely expected to
drop in value as the U.S. trade and fiscal deficits climb.

China now boasts the world's second-largest cache of foreign exchange --
behind only Japan -- and is on pace to see its reserves climb past $1
trillion later this year. Even a slight diminishing of the dollar as a
percentage of those holdings could exert significant pressure on the U.S.
currency, many economists assert.

In recent years, the value of the dollar has been buoyed by major purchases
of U.S. Treasury bills by Japan, China and oil-exporting countries -- a flow
of capital that has kept interests rates relatively low in the United States
and allowed Americans to keep spending even as debts mount. Some economists
have long warned that if foreigners lose their appetite for American debt,
the dollar would fall, interest rates would rise and the housing boom could
burst, sending real estate prices lower.

Well, mostly, mostly. But that's just me. Learning to deal.

Most recently, a life situation . living in a house with a bunch of people .. not my first choice, but there it is. A couple of days ago, I was contemplating mine and roomie's move to the upstairs section, and got a huge deja vu. I dreamed about this house. At the time it totally baffled me. Like why would I dream about a huge house with a bunch of people living in it.

But this is it. I've had a fantasy, for years. Of hosting people who have no other place to go.
Having a large house. For them to live in.

I know I make reality out of my thinking. It is all too obvious.
I need to select my thoughts more carefully.

wildflower, maybe you were picking up on the fact that the thread was there--I mean, after all, you did have a variety of other forums from which to choose but you went right to GD, which is where the thread was.

I recall the blue turban thing but I have never been able to make sense out of it.

Re China, why would they want to invade us geographically? You'd have to be out of your mind to invade a country with as many devastating arms as we have. No, I, too, am of the opinion that it will be an economic devastation. I heard on the radio that China is considering pegging their currency to something other than the dollar.

The U.S. is like the jerk who spends all his time at the gym, beefing himself up. There's no "brain" up there and certainly no money in the bank, either. Brawn can only carry one so far.

44. So, my update
cloud baby - person I work with who is over 7' tall...I first met him when his mom and I were in high school and she brought him to a football game right after he was born and was just a baby...(he is tall enough to be in the clouds anyway). The next day, he was using a box cutter and cut his arm so badly he cut through one of his radial arteries. Terrible wound that required surgery...he is OK, BUT.

Gold scanning - my computer at work (which is my bread and butter, my baby, my EXPENSIVE baby) got caught in a repair console loop (spinning?) that Microsoft suggested I initiate...so, now that I have to do a clean load (which I was trying to avoid to correct a simple issue), my computer is OOS for two days, which puts me even farther behind...my time is so precious right now because I am on deadline and as valuable as gold.

Have not figured out the blue yet. And I could be stupidly off base on the ones I listed, but I think for sure the cloud baby is dead on. Blue could just be a vein color, which is what he severed.

I know, I could look for commonality within just about anything, but...

36. Okay, two dreams. One good about my future, and one bad...about '08.
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 04:39 PM by BlueIris
In the first one, I was being "welcomed 'home'" by "family" after being away from the town I currently live in for at least a couple of years. That's good, I'm looking to relocate. I hope that dream was as predictive as it felt.

Alright, 2008. Actually, the substance of it was good for me because it seemed that the set-up I think we need to have the kind of election Progressives need to a) win and b) restore clean elections was there, among other essential things (namely, the kind of electoral climate that boots Republicans out of the executive branch for at least twelve years). It was also good for me as a Kerry fan, because he'd already been nominated. Unfortunately, this nomination was being fought hard by the so-called New Left, and Kerry had uh, failed to receive some endorsements by a couple of fairly important groups. Like the AFL-CIO. Yikes. Interestingly, this dream was also positive for me because I was wealthy. And I was using my money to buy a super-environmentally friendly house in S. California (well, it was either that or Puget Sound, I'm not sure which). Finally, in this dream of a troubled Kerry bid in '08, posters here might be interested to know that fewer voters than ever were even watching television. The family I was trying to buy my house from? Made a point of joking with me that they'd made a nice, art-deco-style lawn ornament out of their television a couple of years back. Hee.

37. Just thinking about scenes from Office Space, CanuckAmock in the Lounge
starts a thread saying s/he didn't think it was very funny.

Also, I was just wondering this morning if my favorite blogger was going to update anymore on his investigation in the Wilkes-Cunningham scandal and checking his page today, I noted that he has!

38. in tune
Yeah, I like that when I find I'm "in tune" with my favorite bloggers, artists, writers, etc.

Speaking of "in tune," I've got a good story for you:

Last weekend was my girlfriend's birthday so I took her out to dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant (pictured).

As we parked in back of a long block full of restaurants, the aroma of some delicious cooking came our way. We could not believe our good fortune when we got to the restaurant, ordered, and it turned out to be the very dish we'd hungered for in the parking lot!

This Ethiopian restaurant serves everything on bread. It's a spongy flatbread and the idea is to pull off a piece and pick up the food with the bread. Utensils are not used although the restaurant will supply them if asked.

I don't like this bread so I asked for utensils. Unfortunately, the meal, which was quite expensive, seemed a bit paltry without the bread. The serving size was very small, although it made up for it in flavor.

Nonetheless, I felt a bit shortchanged and since the entree was what we'd sniffed in the parking lot, I wanted more. I did not verbalize this or talk about it, however, with my friend or with anyone else.

The next day, my husband, with whom I have incredible ESP, asked me what I wanted for dinner. I gave him the name of an ordinary American dish, which he proceeded to shop for and cook. When it came time to dine, however, my first taste of what he'd made was of the same entree I'd had at the restaurant!

I asked him what he'd put in the dish and he just shrugged it off, saying he'd done nothing special. I kept insisting, however, that it was spicy. He kept shaking his head, saying no, nothing special.

A little later, however, he said, "Oh, you must mean the star anise!" I laughed. I knew there was something different about the dish. Later he "remembered" a few other things he'd done to his concoction. Well, the fact of the matter is, he'd recreated the dish I had at the restaurant and of which I wanted more. I was so amused at this because he did it unconsciously, which is why he couldn't remember the star anise off the top of his head, nor could he remember the other items he'd put in the dish.

39. Nice. I wish I had your husband.
I've only had a little bit of ESP with even my longer-term boyfriends. ESP with a partner seems like it would be really, really useful.

40. Here's a sweet one I have to post:
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 01:03 PM by BlueIris
So, I exchanged e-mails with a nice man through a website I loved that died last year (the website, not the man). He was a big fan of a television series I loved that died this year. He was a friendly person, funny and sweet, and I wondered if I would ever see him again on any other sites that deal with the pop cultural topics addressed by the site on which we met. A friend of mine had told me that I actually probably wouldn't see him around much online anymore, as he is trying to write a novel. Also, apparently, he had some kind of falling out with many of the folks from the Internet communities we travel in, (something that made me sad when I read about it, as I always thought he was a personable, intelligent and witty man and did not possess the capacity to "fall out" of anyone's good graces). For the last two days, but especially in the last twenty-four hours, I'd been thinking about him a lot, mainly because someone around here was asking a question about entertainment that I know he'd be able to answer. I even thought about e-mailing him, but didn't want to be too forward. This morning? He showed up as a contributor on my blog!

The past twenty-four hours have been extremely weird for me, psychically. Solar flares again? Prophetic dreams coming true, psychic flashes (most about mundane stuff, but still) becoming experiences--and I still can't believe my friend popped up on my blog. I'm so happy to see him again.

41. You two are in tune
You were picking up on each other, prob'ly for days!

I'm glad you met up with your online friend.

I have a friend I've been thinking about for a long time myself. We were friends on an armchair detective forum. We did a lot of remote viewing experiments together. One thing about my friend, whose online name is Greenleaf, is that she once told me I shouldn't get so heated up about national politics. She said it doesn't make any difference who is president.

She lives in Mississippi, right in the area where Katrina hit. I wonder if she made it out OK. Is her home still there?

42. Interesting dream last night, indicating to me that Alito may not make it.
Don't want to put up details, due to a paranoid fear that this will "jinx" the possible Alito non-confirmation, but wanted to mention it in this thread.

45. Okay, seriously? THIS is scary. I was JUST thinking about Justice Thomas
two hours ago. Wondering if my premonition that "something" funny would be up with Thomas in the new year, possibly including a judicial revolt against the neo-con forces that put him on the bench. And I'm not saying that this development is substantial or will lead to a Thomas removal, but--two hours. Funny feelings about Thomas. Reconnection to old prescient rumblings I had about him. Freaky.

Could someone tell me if we've had any more substantial solar flare activity of late? Because my intuition is never this solid unless we have. Also? One thing that has unsettled me about all of my psychic impulses this weekend and Monday is that they returned after I had decided to spend less time online, less time thinking about government and more time thinking about myself, my life's progress and my art. Strange.

46. moderate activity yesterday - here you go
http://sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/xray_5m.html
We haven't had any M or X-class flares for a while, but we're also supposed to be travelling into a 'denser' part of the solar system, (explaining last years' heavy activity during a 'solar minimum') if that helps you.

47. I need to find a passage in a 300+ page novel, and so I randomly open it
to find myself staring at the very page it's on; I need my computer to work when I turn it on, and it works; I need John Kerry to continue to keep his promise not to abandon his supporters when they need him, and he does. It's been an amazing day.

49. that happens to me when I'm really in tune
Oh yes, it's the most amazing thing. Really gives you the shivers (in a good way!).

To make a long story short, one time I was in a work situation where a decision had to be made on how to spend millions of dollars on a redesign. I was driving past a library and I felt something drawing me in, so I went in and walked immediately to a book, opened it, and there was research evidence supporting a position I had taken. I copied the research information and used it to bolster my position on the issue. It made the difference and my proposal won out in the short term.

This made a big difference in terms of money that was spent--it went to fund the works of local artists rather than to buy mass-produced design.

Long term, the corporation eventually went with the mass-produced items (after I left my position), but at least I bought some time and money for local artists for about six or seven years.

48. Okay - here is mine (Alito)
I often "people" dream with insights of other people's lives, feelings, etc. Don't know what you would call that. But anyways here is recent regarding Alito:

I am currently in a technical career and this dream is in the workplace.

Boss and co-worker whispering. I overhear my name. Alito is coming in, the new guy.
Come to find out I have been re-assigned as his admin(secretary!).

Not sure whether I should be happy or sad, happened so fast, my head is spinning. Anyways, duties include basically making this man comfortable. Bringing his coffee, etc - and cleaning up after him when he is done.

He sits down at his new desk. We chat small talk. He seems like a very nice man. Doesn't talk down, a little uncomfortable in his new postion though. Seems very appreciative of my efforts to help him settle in. I offer him some coffee. He tells me he will show me the way he likes it and why he always makes it himself. He pours coffee in the cup, then takes a tea bag out of his jacket and dips that into the coffee to make it stronger. We sort of laugh at that.

Fast forward>> My head no longer spinning, I begin to reflect on my new position. Tremendous loss over my previous technical position, even though the new position holds some prestige. We get the opportunity to chat, and he seems to want to cheer me up by telling me a story. I sit at the other side of the desk and there is a Samuri sword on his desk. He begins to tell me a story about this, but there is a radio on his desk and it is playing very very loud so I cannot hear the story. He starts to pull the sword out to illustrate some point.I deperately try to reduce the volume, but turning it up or down, the music just gets louder. Finally he reaches over and is successful turning the volume down.

Then the dream ends.
