Planet-wise...is it okay to sell my rental property now?
It is not occupied, and although I had just purchased it in August, I had to make some repairs which delayed getting a tenant.
Given that the election did not turn out the way I anticipated, I am scared that real estate is going to drop like a tank.
It is a cutie pie of a house on top of a mountain in Asheville, NC. I had dreams of retiring to Asheville one day, but now I don't even know if I want to stay in this country!
I am having a cynical day, so forgive my pessimism at the moment.

1. I think Asheville will remain a desirable place to live
even if real estate drops. I live in Asheville, too bad you can't
live in your cutie pie house.

The financial future of the country is looking rather dismal to many people and some astrologers are seeing signs of suffering for the U.S. in the near future.

You will be more likely to get an answer if you give some specifics with dates. Perhaps your own birth date, time and place.
Good Luck!

2. No, Digit!! Wait until Mercury goes direct, and goes past its Rx degree.
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 03:22 AM by loudsue
In other words, I'd wait until at least January 7th to put your property on the market.

Right now Mercury is retrograde, and this is NOT a good time to be making this move. And, although Mercury goes direct on Dec. 20th, I would wait until it crosses back over the degree (27 Sagittarius) where it went retrograde...which will be Jan. 7th....just to be sure you're making the right decision.

Some new information may possibly come to you before then that would make you re-think your decision, so it's best not to be committed to anything (like a 'listing agreement').

:hi: It's just not a good idea, astrologically, to do something like that while Mercury is retro.

Your instincts, the instincts that made you ask the question to begin with, were right on!!

3. OT - Housing - what about buying a property - putting a bid on one
Should I be hanging out too??

Right now my stuff is in storage and I am using timeshare weeks to live in while looking - for december they were cheap in Florida - but in January will be high - but I am finding prices inflated a bunch here - Manufactured homes priced at 200% of what they were bought for in 2002. Feeling like this is not the time to buy - but rents are high too -

Timeshare weeks will be cheap at other places along the eastern seaboard for Jan and part of Feb - just means I am without a home and a vagabond moving from timeshare week to the next until I decide on area to live -

Feels both scary and adventurous -

Should I start a new topic on this????? Call it housing - buying and selling ????

4. Yep, 28erl : Same goes for your situation.
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 01:48 PM by loudsue
It's best if you don't sign any contracts during this time. That goes for everyone, and every contract.

The only exception to this rule is if you're signing a contract to go BACK to work for someone you knew in your past, or a job you had in the past. With Mercury Rx, it's a good time to look back at where you've been, not a time to be looking ahead and locking yourself into something "new".

You often find with Mercury Rx, that when you lock yourself into something (a contract, or a purchase of equipment/a car, etc.), once Mercury turns direct, you find that you will wish you could "UNdo" whatever it was you've done.

BTW, getting married while Mercury is Rx is definitely a bad idea. Remember, that is a "contract" as well.

Sorry if it means you might remain a "vagabond" for a couple of weeks more, but once Mercury turns direct, you may find out some information that will have made the wait 'worth it'!

Just keep your eyes and ears open! Mercury Rx is a time when it is perfectly OK to be doing "research" on what you want to do....just not a good time to actually DO something that you'll be locked into.

5. ok - more questions about apartment or job or what ever
ok - so I shouldn't sign contracts
does this include new job?
Can I apply and interview for jobs?
Starting a new job - would seem like a contract????

I have a part time job teaching at college level - some is online and can be done any where
but as of right now I am possibly going to have a face to face class back in the town I left -

seems funny to hang out - I do have timeshares and hotel and a workshop booked up until jan 7

15. We signed our house contract 11/13 to settle on 12/14, but on 11/30
shit started, and it has been dragging us through the frickin' ringer for most of this month already. Settlement was cancelled, and not rescheduled. We are praying that 12/20 things start to get back on track. We hear there is finally movement after fits and starts the past 3 horrendous weeks.

This has been one of the most heinous Mercury retro's for my entire family. We're OVER it!!!

7. 28 ERL - if you are talking about
buying in Florida - DO NOT BUY A MANUFACTURED HOUSE. They come down like matchsticks in a hurricane and for some odd reason they tend to attract twisters here.

Best bet in Florida is cinder block.

Town houses, two stories run much cheaper by the way.

Prices have risen here unbelievably, more than double in the last year
and a half...but if you're willing to take an older house, you could still find something reasonable.

9. The park I am looking at - some have been there since 1984
so I am assuming they have been through many storms - and few had damage - there are over 700 homes and most were fine - I know many say stay away from MHC - many of those were old - and even houses and condos got tore up if they were in direct path - especially newer built houses which are poorly made -

10. Yes;
start a new topic, and I'll be eagerly lurking.

I don't know enough about astrology to comment, but I need to sell, move, and buy during the first 6 months of 2005, so I'll be reading with interest.

11. Hey, maybe we could start a thread: Relocating, Buying?Selling?
and some of us might want to move to what you're selling
and also I'd like some ideas about moving out of the country.

I was planning on Costa Rica until they had a 6.2 earthquake at the beginning of December.

13. Well, a 6.2 earthquake is possible,
and actually probable, out here on the west coast, too. The San Andreas runs right through my city. We have a "bulge" visible where a hill was cut away for the freeway that has been showcased in numerous earthquake articles and videos. My little cottage will have to find a special market; it's very small, old, shabby, charming, and zoned industrial. It's on the edge of an old tract full of a diverse group of the working poor; it's next door to an abandoned-for-decades chicken ranch, and railroad tracks leading from the main track to the local builder's supply half a mile away. There is a truck yard down the block, and an airport and aerospace complex just up the street.

I don't know if this place would "fit" most people; but a "relocating" thread is a good idea, imo.

14. LWOLF, how about
advertising it in "commercial" or in dual commercial/residential?
sounds perfect for the corner grocery store or 7/11 type thing.

6. Good information
I need to have some sort of safety net. The property mgr gave up on me because I did not use contractor and it is difficult leaving it out there just "abandoned" for vandalism reasons.
I will list it for a short duration, but promise not to sign any offers until after Jan 7th. That is assuming I GET any offers before Jan 7th...will that do?

8. DIGIT,. no
anything started on a Mercury Retrograde gives nothing but problems, and everything goes wrong.

At least wait to list when Mercury goes direct on December 20th and
NOT BEFORE.

12. I am going to listen to THAT directive!
Four more days is not an unreasonable amount of time to wait.
I believe you, and I am going to listen this time!
Thank you so much!

16. DIGIT, Mercury direct and thinking about this -
we (astrologers/mystics) kind of see the writing on the wall in the near future for this country....moving toward more restrictions of
liberties etc....

but one of the safest places to put your money is in real estate.

And it could enable you to do a couple of things.

Yup, many of us are thinking, planning , trying to figure out where to go and how to go out of this country.

BUT it might be a good idea to keep a little place to come back to.

I think your original idea of renting is the best one.

You'll have someone paying your mortgage on the place, and if you're lucky, you'll even be making some profit, while still holding onto the
real estate in Asheville and having a place to come back to, on and off.

If you have equity in the place, or no mortgage, take the money out in a mortgage or refinance, and use it to find or purchase a place out of the country.

What do you think about that?

Just my two cents.

That's what I think I'm going to try to do.

I just don't know where to go yet.

17. The listing papers have been signed.
I think this is for the best for a number of reasons.

Asheville is a charming town, but it is not meant to be at this time.
Thanks for your suggestions, tho.
