My friend was in an accident yesterday afternoon. She and her husband went to pick up a dryer at Sears, and when they were trying to load the dryer, the truck came back and pinned her between the tailgate of the pickup and the loading dock. It was with enough force that the tailgate has a dent in it. She was taken to the hospital with 2 partially collapsed lungs, broken ribs, and more. Her husband blames himself, although it was an accident. She is in/out on morphine, but conscious enough to make sense when talking, and has told him that. They still haven't determined if her esophagus, spleen, liver, and heart are OK. This happened at noon yesterday and she *just* got moved into ICU tonight around 8pm.
I am totally exhausted, between worry for her, keeping up at work, kids, my cancer diagnosis and preop testing, and then I found out today that one of my coworkers has been diagnosed with asbestosis in one lung and other lung cancer in the other. He's just a couple years older than me and starts treatments next week, but the dr. told him it didn't look good. So MANY people that I have heard of or who I actually know are sick with some really bad stuff, I feel like I need to shut my brain down and just not think anymore for right now.
Anyway, I know both friends would appreciate any light and prayers you could spare. Bev is a very spiritual person, one of the most gracious and gentle people I know. Ed is just a plain all around nice guy. Scary stuff. My coworkers were listing the people in our building who have cancer. Don't think there is any connection, but we listed at least 12 out of 100 - ranging from breast cancer, uterine cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer PLUS two people that came down with strange viruses - one that caused heart failure and one that caused paralysis. Both are back to work, but the guy never did regain use of his legs.
Sorry, I'm exhausted and going off on a tangent. Gotta hit the sack.
