Astrology question: If someone doesn't have the time of his/her birth... |
|
how useful is his/her astrological chart? Is there still lots of useful information that can be determined by examining it? I don't think that the approximate time of day isn't known. However, if an approximate time were known, would that at least help?
Thanks!

But I believe the time only determines the rising sign. If it were on a cusp, it would throw the sun/moon out of kilter. I don't know about the outer planets, but I don't think so. Someone else will clarify. Thanks for asking.

I think that the rising sign and which sign rules each house (I hope that that's the correct terminology) would be the major things that couldn't be determined. However, I don't know what else there is that can be determined from a chart. It will be interesting to find out!

3. Obviously, a chart is far less accurate in terms of precision |

sans birth time. It's absence especially mucks up and obfuscates the timing of transits to the angles, the Moon, ingresses, arenas of life wherein influences are likely to manifest, and especially the progressed Moon.
A traditional method of rectification includes asking a "querant" for the dates of 12 significant events in their lives. Some astrologers can spin the wheel until it makes reasonable sense. This method requires a great deal of time and lengthy observation over an extended period of time. So sometimes it's far more practical to use other methods of prognostication in these cases.
Through other less traditional methods, some are employing the use of both kineseology and regression from which the results are really fairly impressive.
But what do I know. . .having gotten involved with someone who didn't even have a birthday and having once had a client from Laos who didn't even know her birth year. . .??? Can you imagine going through that kind of upheaval that one doesn't even know their age. . .? Yikes.

4. I feel so lucky that my hospital documented the exact time. |

Interesting what you said about the person from Laos. I had a friend in high school who discovered that she was actually a year older than she thought that she was. The only excuse that I can come up with for her parents' losing track of the year is that theirs was a LARGE family. :(
Thanks for the information, stella! :)

Hey Dream
I make a hard and fast rule. If the birth time is approximate, I'll use it keeping that in mind. If they hem and haw regarding it, I don't touch it. I do a solar chart where the Sun appears on the ascendant and all houses are equal accordingly.
I do the same solar char for everyone besides their accurate birth time one because it is accurate too. It is the chart "related to the Sun (ego)" whereas the natal one with the birth time is more about "this incarnation" I find.
The huge problem with no birth time is that the moon travels 13 degrees in one day and often is up for grabs as to what sign it is in. Usually, that can be determined by a few questions about the person's moods, etc.
If the time is approximate, you can go through a long series of questions regarding progressions, transits to Descendant/MC etc. That my help. But in my experience, it takes a very qualified astrologer to rectify the chart properly - it's very hard to do.
Nevertheless, about 1/4 of all my readings have no birth time and I have no recourse. I do find that doing Harmonics based on a chart with no BT is questionable whereas harmonics based on a normal chart can be very revealing.
Hope that helps

6. Welcome to DU and the illustrious though sometimes sleepy astro forum. |

I too do solar charts initially in the face of birth time vaguary. They certainly have their import.
Welcome here and hope you post again. :)
