okay: I dreamt about Dick Cheney |
|
Really. I'm an author and a journalist, and so, in the dream, I found myself, by virtue of a press pass, behind some sealed-off security zone. I was "trapped" in the zone with... Dick Cheney! He was walking to his next locale, surrounded by security men. I was trapped in the vortex, if you will.
now, in the dream I thought: I have to post this on DU!
I also thought there was nothing I could possible say to Cheney because I despised him so utterly. And I'm a pretty good conversationalist.
Then I realized how sad, how hollow Cheney seemed. He was walking along, smoking a cigarette.
Eventually, I made some kind of really general small talk. But it all felt forced.
The dream shifted at some point, and eventually I woke up. This was a handful of days ago.

1. Smoking a cigarette, huh? |
|
The guy has to have a death wish. He's on his last heart valve, and smoking. What an idiot.
Of course, it was a dream, but.......??????

2. Must be from election overload. I had a dream I was talking to Jeb |
|
Bush the other day about the debacle in FL-13. I woke up shaking my head over that one.

5. You bring up an interesting point ... |
|
... maybe this should be a separate discussion ? ... But I've often wondered when dreams are real dreams and when they're just 'day residue', and how we can tell the difference.

6. "Real" vs. "regular" dreams |
|
There's a feeling of clarity when you are dreaming about 'reality'. You know that something is very different. I would be interested in hearing the whole dream, because that would give us the clue - if the dream seguays (?) into another dream fragment, it might give the clue about what the dream Cheney represents.

14. I tried. I said, "Jeb, you've got one hell of a mess on your hands." |
|
He replied, "I know" and he hung his head and rubbed his forehead.
"Jeb," I said, "this stuff has got to stop. Everybody knows about it now."
Then the dream morphed into something else, but I had the distinct feeling that the reason he hung his head was because he knew they couldn't get away with voter suppression any more.

3. his power is diminished |
|
Until just recently, he had this forceful dark energy...and recently we seem to witness a very weak energy - is he leaving?
and I love the part, that you thought - you have to post this on DU. :)

But yes, definitely a sense of diminished power, hollowness...

showing him in your energy field can mean alot of things. In a precognitive sense, it can show him taking up more prominence, then a lessened stature sometime in the future. Dreams usually show us a snapshot of our future, though in code. Nobody can really say what it means, but we can take guesses. It could have something to do with his restrictive influence on the media, the press, journalism, etc. Since that is your field, you would probably be especially tuned into those restrictions, and the dream is showing how really trapped you feel by all of it. Otoh, the fact that he was literally in your space can indicate a possibility (or fear of, or even a wish) that he will for a short time be fully in charge of things. I mean, if something happened to Little Shrubbie. Otoh, it could point to legal troubles for Cheney, that he is walking to another locale, and smoking a cigarette. Showing that he is on his way out the door, and feeling pretty low. Whatever it means, I got something positive from your images, in the sense of his being "temporary."

10. in the middle of the walk, the power shifted, from him to me |
|
It was up to me whether there'd be a conversation or not. And he seemed smaller, slight....

17. Maybe look for the underlying feelings |
|
Well, if it was up to you as to whether or not to converse with him, then it probably means something more personal to you. Like that you want to find more out about him if you can, or who knows, maybe even some sort of weird guilt or a feeling of responsibility to talk with him. Anyway, I think WickfordBard's suggestion about checking for continuity in other dream segments is a really good one. Although difficult if nothing else seems related to that one. It certainly is interesting that in the dream you wanted to share this dream with DU. Maybe the dream was, in part, a msg for our collective consciousness here at DU. Like saying, don't worry so much about D.Ch. He is probably more of an annoyance than anything, at this point in the game.

11. Some dream. Since you appear to be a lucid dreamer, |
|
and a reporter, my guess is that you invited his energy into your dream. It was sad and dejected. Knowing what we all know about the man's heart condition and he's smoking???!!! My impression is that Cheney is on the way out.

13. well i wouldn't take this as prophetic about Cheney |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-21-06 07:50 PM by kineta
but it DOES sound like you almost had a lucid dream - sounds like the opportunity presented itself when you thought "I have to post this on DU".
I *usually* interpret most things in my dreams as aspects of myself - is there some PART of yourself that you could relate to that image of Cheney - on the surface powerful, but in fact isolated and sad?
on edit after reading your other posts in the tread: if it's true that it represents some part of yourself - it sounds like an unhealthy part on the way out. so that's good.

16. You might have projected astrally to someplace he actually |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 04:44 PM by Cleita
happened to be or had been and got a snapshot of his inner soul, the hollowness and the sadness. I think it was a revelation about his inner being because the only outward thing that was happening was him walking and smoking a cigarette.
Would he be a smoker though, considering his heart history? Does he sneak cigarettes in private? That might be a revelation in itself.

21. he was kind of deflated -- it was a slow walk, from one appearance |
|
or meeting to the next....
I'd been trapped behind the "security line," and had to make the walk with him. He mostly looked down while he walked, cigarette dangling from his right hand, opposite the side I was on.
I was the one that finally decided to make conversation -- I think it was sort of inane, to get both him and me through the moment. He responded; nothing too cutting in either direction, if (dream) memory serves...
But as stated earlier, I really resented being stuck there with him....

Until this heart attack, Cheney had been a smoker for 20 years. He has said he gave up smoking after the attack and went on a strict dietary and medical regimen <17>. There are indications, however, that his change in lifestyle was neither so dramatic nor whole-hearted <1>.http://www.doctorzebra.com/prez/a_cheney.htm#mi1This is part of Cheney's whole diagnosis here: http://www.doctorzebra.com/prez/a_cheney.htmIt could be that he's still sneaking cigarettes when no one is looking.
