How many of you have felt the presence of someone when
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 03:35 AM by SeattleGirl
they aren't physically anywhere near you? This has happened to me quite frequently throughout my life. I recall once, when I suddenly became aware of the presence of a friend of mine who was pregnant at the time. She lived over 100 miles away from me. She seemed distressed, so I called her, and she said she was waiting for her husband to get home because she had started spotting and it was getting worse. (She and the baby ended up being okay.)

It happened once with a person who had died -- my father. The father of my then-housemate had just passed away, and it was only about 3 or 4 years after my father died (he was only 43). Nancy was understandably distraught, and I started feeling that way too, remembering my own pain at my father's passing, when I suddenly felt as if he were standing on my right, with his arm around me, comforting me.

Lately, I've been feeling the presence of someone I cannot get hold of for an unknown reason. Like, this morning, I woke up, felt the presence of this person, and heard the voice saying, "Don't fret. Everything's okay." It was very comforting to me.

Anyway, I just wondered how many of you may have, or have had, these kinds of experiences. I've never had a negative experience with this, i.e. feeling that someone was trying to harm me. It's usually been for comfort, or to say "hi", or that they wanted to let me know they needed me, like my pregnant friend.

I appreciate these experiences, as to me it tells me that these people and I are connected, in a good way.

1. Yes, but I mainly have them with the deceased....
it was a bit startling at first.

Happened with my husband's uncle who gave me
quite an earful. My husband dismissed it until
I began telling him some of his family deep secrets
that he had never told me, or anyone.

I have never ever felt any harm or negativity
about the spirit world. No fear whatsoever.

Perhaps I should have some caution, but I cannot
muster up an iota of it.

In fact I am quite fearless about all of it. In contrast
to my usual worrier neurotic self!

Perhaps you can meditate and see who is communicating
with you. Do you think it is a guide?

6. I don't think it's a guide; my very strong sense is that the "visits"
are from real people that I know. And like you, I am fearless about it.

2. Yes

There have been times I have suddenly felt the presence of a friend of mine-but it's like I am looking out on his farm with my eyes, that I'm somehow within him, or he within me-- (Edited to add: My friend and I have met but once in the flesh-and yet he came up to me in a crowded room and knew exactly who I was, even though he had never seen my photo.)

As for the presence of those who have passed, yes, that has happened, the most dramatic being when my uncle had disappeared and my mother and grandmother were distraught. They got out their Ouija Board and my deceased grandfather came through-you could feel his presence in the room. He said that they wouldn't suffer, and that his son would return. They were putting away the board when my uncle drove in the driveway-this after a two day's disappearance.

There are many unseen beings around us all the time, I think. I also think that sometimes we become the "unseen beings" in another's world, as per the first paragraph.

7. I have not had an experience like you described about being
within your friend; that's very interesting. I have been told by others that they "felt" me near them, and when I ask them if they recall the time, it usually coincides with a time I was thinking very strongly about them.

3. Among people I'm really "bonded" to, usually not even family,
I will get a major psychic distress signal that something's up if something interesting is well, up with them.

4. I have a friend
who astral travels to see me. I once was able to call him to come (without using the phone). He always comes when I am sleeping. But I have awakened at times, and *see*/*feel* him as he is leaving.

9. I do that too; "call" someone in my mind.
It's a good thing to be able to do, especially if there are real-world technical difficulties interfering with communicating by phone or email with someone.

5. Yes, but usually they are dead. I do with animals too even
when they are elsewhere, sometimes they feel like they are near me. Also, I see them in dreams both the dead humans and animals. I had a dream about my cat Maggie just last night who passed almost ten years ago. She came in through the sliding glass door, just like my cat Benny does, just like she belonged there, except I didn't live there when she was alive. In the dream I didn't even think of her as being dead or gone. It was like she was away for awhile and I said something to the effect that she shouldn't stay away from home for so long.

10. Interesting. I don't believe I've ever had that experience with
an animal. Mine have always been with people.

11. How sweet, Cleita
I've no doubt whatsoever that Benny was saying she is still with you, regardless of where the two of you lived when she was alive. You might think about this in the future--that she is actually around in spirit form.

12. yes
I have had a couple of strange experiences, both upon awakening. Once was a visit from a friend who had died about five years prior. I heard her voice and it was extremely comforting. It left me euphoric for days. The other was just more of a knowledge of something wrong with the mother of an acquaintance that i was not particularly close to. I completely blew it off until I found out she died a week later. She had blood poisoning for about a week. Somehow I had picked up on this out of the blue.

13. I wish so much that I could hear the voice of one of my best friends.
She died a few years ago, and I still miss her so much. Both her parents were alcoholic; my dad was alcoholic. We helped each over heal a lot of that, including learning to laugh at ourselves, which to me is a great gift. I do still talk to her, especially when I do something goofy or stupid, and I often feel her presence, which is also a gift and a comfort to me. To hear her voice, even one more time, would be a blessing.
