I got a bonk-on-the-head message last night |
|
Last night I dreamt of two foxes. They entered a room I was in and sat down, looking at me. One was a male and the other was a female. The male was very handsome and, well, fluffy :) , but it was the female that startled me--she was wearing a red mask. It was made of cloth--covered her whole head and had red and gold tassles hanging off of it in random places. If they said anything to me, I don't remember it.
Then this morning I was driving to work and a fox crossed the snowy road in front of me. (I had forgotten the dream but seeing this real fox made me remember it--must have been an "ahem" moment from the universe.)
Snarf--and just last night I was discussing with my coven how to handle the toxic environment at work (and why am I fighting to stay at such a negative place anyway). I think, if I didn't exactly get an answer on what to do (stay or go), I got a very decisive message on how to handle things while I am here--work my female magick and get crafty.
...but what the heck was that red mask all about?

edit to add more info on Fox totem
Foxes are highly adaptable creatures who will move into urban surroundings when, their habitat is encroached on by humans. They maintain a territory, but it greatly decreases when they live in urban areas as opposed to hill country. Each territory is kept by one family group, which consists of a dog fox, vixen, and their cubs. If there is a good food supply than the family group can expand to include a few other adults. Nevertheless, only one vixen will produce cubs in the group. As for food, foxes are not too picky eating anything from earthworms, crabs, and fruit to small mammals. They bury the excess prey to eat when the food supply is short.
Fox's clever nature makes it a master of camouflage. When hunted by hounds, Fox will psyche them out by doubling back on its own trail, and run around in circles to break the scent. It has the amazing ability to meld into the background, allowing it to quietly observe the situation around them.
Fox comes to us when we need to slip out of a situation so we can be silent witness to what is really taking place behind the scenes. We need to use our cleverness to our advantage, but we must remember to be discreet. Fox asks us to carefully look at where we are coming from, so we can remember to approach things with a clear conscious.

Thanks for the additional info on foxes. They're amazing creatures. I think the fox might be a totem of mine, but only occasionally, when I need to be especially cunning insted of wide open like I usually am!

4. Not a weird thought at all, lulu |

The more I think about it, the more I suspect the universe is telling me to mask my female traits--for a while, just as you said. I think I need to be more of a fighter, but especially to fight my male coworkers on their turf. In general, any sign of the feminine and they go barking mad (not in a good way--in a chauvinistic way--would you believe one guy actually said to my female coworker that he believes women shouldn't work--they should be homemakers?!)
Thanks for weighing in! I'm feeling better about this message from the universe all the time.

imagery of the red mask. I have no clue to it. But it sounds, foxxy! I had a young woman as a manager. When I got my hair cut and came in she did a little finger thing to push up the fox ears. And groweled ... foxxy! . She was a little strange, but I loved her. Always good for a hoot unless she was stabbing you in the back.
It would be really cool to hear how you interpret this signal.
One spring, when I lived on the lake, there was a mom fox and her two little cubs. There was a pipe that ran down the hill of the property. And that was their hide out, escape and access to the yard. They were so beautiful. Silver. We never went near them. Just let them be.
I'm glad an answer to the totem has been posted. I believe you are right on with your evaluation of female traits. It feels as if you have been frustrated showing those to MG jr. And, hon, you are not going to get any better place to shine, than with your son. Your woman-hood wants out? All the time. Don't we all. Let her roar! I cannot wait until MorningGlow just lets out a whoop!

Ooh silver foxes--that must have been quite a sight. I'd like to see those! We just have orange-red ones here--still gorgeous, but not as exotic.
I remembered a bit more about the dream later--the female fox was white (under the mask) and someone in the dream was talking about how they were a rare type of fox.
The more I think about it, the more I'm sure that the fox symbolism is requiring me to be more cunning at work, the white female fox the goddess, the red and gold mask fire energy (I'm air, so I tend to be more amenable--I don't fight back much--but I have to now).
So my message is to hide my feminine side for now--mask my goddess energy especially, because the chauvinists at work haaaaaate strong females and react violently against "uppity women". (Yes, the last time I checked this is the 21st century...odd isn't it?) :) Well, not mask my goddess energy exactly...but...to get what I want and have my voice heard, I have to strap on a pair and climb into the boxing ring. My inner goddess must grab a sword, in other words.
I guess I'll find out this coming week--there were more fireworks late on Friday that affect me indirectly, and my VP has promised to "figure things out" regarding my status and title next week. I have a pretty strong feeling that he's going to offer me crap and I'm going to have the opportunity to start swinging the sword.
Time to fasten my seatbelt--it's going to be a bumpy week!

6. I love your dream, and the fact that you saw an actual fox after it. |
|
I am not sure what the dream means, but there is definitely a message there for you, particularly since you said you work in a negative environment.
I would be interested to know if you get any additional insights into what the dream means.

I did get more insights, thanks for asking! Check my response to votesomemore, upthread, for the symbolism I figured out. I'm pretty certain I've got the message the universe sent me: Get tough and demand what you want. I've gotten that same message it many times before; I can be kind of milquetoast and easygoing and then I get walked all over (as I have at my job lately). Sigh. I really need to learn this lesson, evidently. I'm strong in a lot of ways, but I just can't bring myself to give a higher up a piece of my mind and be confident enough to know he'll respect my attitude instead of kicking me for it.
But as I told VSM, the VP has said that we'll discuss my status and other important details next week, so I'm going to have a chance to start flinging some attitude around and see what happens!
