There's another author I want to say something about briefly. |
|
I remember when the John Gray was first on Oprah back in the mid-90s. I liked what he had to say then; but had not read the books yet. Then, a friend of mine got the tape (VHS) set. My fiance broke up with me in a very painful way. I sat down that night and watched one tape after another. It took me about a week to get through the whole set (12 tapes).
It was a light bulb moment (or series of moments) for me. I loved it! These sessions have helped me more in my relationships AND in my work than almost anything else. He is clear and to the point; and it is presented in such a non-confrontational way.
I just want to make sure that those that haven't watched, read or listened (but I would recommend watching and/or listening) try to do so if you are drawn to him at all. I found it immensely helpful and educating.
I notice (was reminded by Morgan's thread) that he is very involved with Hale Dworkin and the Sedona Method, so it seems he continues to tie his specialty to the spiritual-mind-body link.
Just wanted to put that out there....:hi:

3. He has a lot of wisdom. |
|
My husband and I took a weekend-long relationship workshop with him back in 1992 and it was amazing. I was very impressed with both his communication skills and his understanding of women.

4. I was always deeply put off by the title -- |
|
it seemed simplistic and probably sexist. Can you provide just a little bit of info about what he's got to say?? (Beyond his appearance in The Secret?)

5. I always had a hard time taking him seriously ... |
|
... simply because at the time he was 'biggest', I was seeing a married man by the same name. Made it kind of difficult to get 'relationship' books and not snicker.

6. My counselor quotes him, and I did read one passage in one of his books... |
|
...that I really liked. (I was just browsing at the library.)
I think you have inspired me to get one of his books...I could use a bit of help in communicating with my boyfriend.
thanks!

look into Harville Hendrix books, "Getting the Love you Want", "Keeping the Love you Find"... They teach a communication style known as "Imago". If I were in a relationship, I would certainly want to read them. I am planning to read "Keeping..." anyway.
