Carolyn Myss - Entering the Castle
Hi all ...

Is anyone reading and/or working through this book? It's been shown to me that this is my work to do and I found her most recent workshop on this (from Oct 2007) online (check it out here: http://www.myss.com/CMED/media/). It's broken down into about 20 40-50 minute sections and is pretty powerful. I also have the cd that I'm listening to.

So, wondering if anyone who might also be into this want to chat about it and see if we can do some of the work together.

Many comments about the cd on amazon speak to her "harsh tone" and she's a bit sharp anyway so I was a bit reluctant to get the cd but I have to say that it's clear she takes this work so seriously and is very passionate about it. IMO, if she seems too harsh and it's off-putting to you, this might not be a pathwork that resonates with your soul. (Not making a judgment - just saying that we are not all working on the same things here on earth school!). Thoughts on that?

If you'd rather talk about this privately, feel free to email me on here.

Peace,
Lisa

1. I listened to this book on CD
It was a wonderful experience for the most part. A few times, I got a little annoyed by her tone, i.e., saying that you do this, you do that, and then she pauses and snaps, "AND DON'T DO THIS" as if her audience, me at the time, was stupid or something. The first two times, I overlooked it, but then it did get on my nerves. Of course, it could just be her style. Besides that, it was an incredible experience.

3. I'm not involved
with this particular piece of hers although I have some others. I found her a bit abrasive at times until I listened to her live radio program on hayhouseradio.com. It is very obvious from those that she cares very deeply for her fellow beings. In one of the series I have she even admits that she would be too 'timid' to perform karaoke. That surprised me because she comes across as fearless. I think she is just one of those very strong personalities.

Based on the description on amazon this book might lean too far Christian for me but the subject matter is very appealing. I'm planning to do some follow up reading on the subject. I would be interested to read any comments.

4. She can be abrasive, I will give you that!
I would love to study with her in person because I so would not get away with my shit with her. She'd call me on it left and right and I need that kind of thing, I think. Yet, even the idea of that terrifies me as much as it intrigues me.

I did a weekend workshop with her in NJ about 3 years ago and she is amazingly wonderful in person. Warm, caring but definitely one who won't let you play your games. I felt like a sponge during the entire weekend. She just "speaks to me", you know?

She's said that the castle work is the "chakras of the soul" which I find a very interesting concept. I am studying at a very progressive mystical seminary (www.sanctasophia.org fyi) and sort of get the idea that this work is integral on my path to ordination some point in the future. I plan to start it from the beginning and "work" it rather than what I usually do (read it, go "hmm, that's very interesting" and then put it up on a shelf).

Anyway, I have to say I am so so so happy to find this forum. Kathy Griffin has "her gays" and I have my "woo-woo peeps" (for lack of a better word and just to put a teeny bit of snarky spin on it).

7. Wow, first, thanks for the link, I have bookmarked that for further investigation.
And may I also say I totally resonate with what you say about reading something and then putting it up on a shelf!

5. I'm currently listening to Myss's "Energy Anatomy" CDs. They're wonderful!
Synchronistically, Proud_Lefty just lent me her "Entering the Castle" CDs, which I received a few days ago. I think that this means that I should join in. However, I'm also participating in a group book read ("The Biology of Belief" by Bruce Lipton, Ph.D.) that we're having here which is going to be ramping up now that the holidays are behind us, so I might be a little slow in reference to listening to them. If that's not a problem, then I'd be happy to participate.

:)

8. Hi, mysticalchick, and welcome to DU!
I don't have this CD by Carolyn Myss, but I wonder if you'd indulge me for talking about the one CD I so have from her. It was about 5 yrs ago by accident in Monroeville, and I attending a "Spiritual Fair" at the local Expo Center in Monroeville, PA. I knew nothing OF this woman, though I had for many years read a lot of other esoteric subjects. I decided that I'd pay a fee to attend this fair (obviously, it came along out of the blue and I needed to attend). I saw many kinds of interesting people. I came to the media area, saw her stuff, and said, "hmmm, this one looks interesting"... It was her double CD titled, "Spiritual Madness".

I had to listen to it many, many times, as I was at first, almost put off by her quips and frank opinion regarding those people expecting a "quid pro quo" from their "God", or those who wanted to hang a shingle out there and had phony spiritual awareness, We all know people who are so keen to have their chart read and not want to understand that we are facing the same message- IMO, the birth chart and transits, solar returns, etc. are but tools to understanding why you are in this life. There are phonies, which is to say- you know, people sitting around "ohm'ing" who go right back to not understanding what kind of path each one of us is probably on. Anyway, as I listened about the 5th time, It struck a rather personal note (yep, I was having a sad period of time in life). Interestingly, I wasn't so put off by my earlier notion that she was trying to shove a personal "God figurehead" or her belief in reading the scriptures, regardless of the religion.

Poetry is as good as scriptures, if you ask me (I know you didn't), as far as my part of a Christianity belief system. But, each subsequent listening to this woman, usually while driving by myself on long trips, was more meaningful in that we have to have some kind of higher order- it may not be well defined...

I re-listen occasionally. The result is that I am not AS afraid at what I get to deal with in this life. And I'm not obsessed with having to know exactly what "God" means. My take-home message is that life is an ever-changing period of "stability, followed by chaos".. and we are hear to help support each other. In fact, that is when I started to go to more of the discussion groups like THIS ONE as part of my DU experience.

When I linked to your Myss media and played "part 1", and if you ever want to discuss anything, please PM me. I could learn, you could learn... or we could discuss it here.

:hi:

10. Ah so!

... I enjoy your posts, btw.. This is the next best thing to the Expo Mart holding its fair. I'm not sure Pittsburghers were a huge draw for them a few years back.

I have to say that I initially spent lots of my DU reading/posting time in GD, which can be quite good, but where I didn't feel I was having good dialog at times. Now, I make a point of stopping off at the lounge, and more recently HERE. You get to know the sense after a while. Anyway, it's always good to read what you have to say! :-)

You'd think that DUers would be more open then most to some subjects... but, as with day to day 3-d life, you discover the limits with some folks who frankly aren't open on the "what if" and "ethereal subject" thought.

I like the "what if" and I have enough Uranian influence in my chart to be "way out there" at times! hee-hee...

11. Thanks for your kind words, MMM!
Yes, there are people here who really dislike that this group even exists. That's OK though; this group has more posts than all of the other sub-forums except for the John Kerry and Countdown/Keith Olbermann groups. We've got a really nice, supportive community here! I'm glad that you've joined us, MMM.

12. Hiya! Thanks for the welcome
I am checking in here for the first time in a bit and am glad to see more responses to my post!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, MrMickeysMom. :) CM is an amazing teacher, IMO, and I usually get much more on repeated listenings to her cds. And it also depends on where I am in my life journey when I hear it as to how it hits me and what I take from it.

The key is to remain open to what comes your way and what resonates with you and then DO something with that info. In the past, I would take it in intellectually but not in my soul. Now, I'm more in a place to do something with the info and move forward.

I'd love to discuss it further whether here or in private email. Having a soul companion would be such a wonderful thing.

Lisa

13. Hey, I'm all for that!
BTW, have you gotten a similar impression of CM in that she is very theologically rooted in her message, or does it appear that she just values religious doctrine and scriptures or better yet, "belief systems"? When trying to share "spiritual madness" with a few folks who are into astrology, they weren't drawn to CM's message with spiritual madness, and I thought it was because she refers to, "God". I'm one of those people who do not see "God" as a mono-theistic entity, but a much larger encompassing force in what we call the universe.

What a loaded, question, eh?
