Astrology and the Primary Season -- Update (correct version)
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 02:38 PM by ccpup
I think with the back-and-forth between Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the LA Times and NY Times Tony Rezko stories as well as the contentious debate, we're witnessing the moving away of Barack's SP (Secondary Progressed) Moon from his Natal Jupiter. I anticipate him doing very well in SC, but, with this SP Moon moving to oppose his Natal Mercury for the next month, he may not be able to maneuver the Message of his win (he's got momentum! he's going to get a huge bounce!) or even the message in general going into Super Tuesday as well as he hopes to.

It's mathematically impossible for any Candidate to get the requisite 2025 Delegates they'll need for the Nomination on Super Tuesday, so it's important to look at the Primaries in February, March and, especially, the one Primary on April 22nd to get a sense of who, astrologically, is better positioned to hit that magic number.

So, even though I expect he'll still have the mathematical possibility throughout February of surpassing Hillary and getting the number of delegates he needs to clinch the nomination, on March 14th (after the March 11th Mississippi Primary), he has Tr. Saturn making an inconjunct to his SP Moon for a few weeks which, to me, indicates a growing tension as he realizes he may not be able to surmount Hillary's growing lead.

Why do I suspect that?

At the same time, around the April 22nd Pennsylvania Primary -- the only Primary after March 11th's Mississippi Primary as well as the only Primary in April -- , Hillary enjoys Tr. Jupiter and Tr. Uranus forming a Yod (or finger of God) with her Natal Saturn as well as SP (Secondary Progressed) Jupiter moving ever closer into a Trine with her Pluto/Mars conjunction (becoming exact a month before Inauguration Day). And the same Saturn transits affecting Barack are forming a trine to Hillary's SP Sun at the same time he touches her MC by conjunction before moving to sextile her Natal Sun.

(edited to correct that Saturn will be stationing sextile her Sun by one degree for five weeks)

Conversely, Barack has Tr. Saturn moving into a square (by one degree) with his Natal Moon a week before this April Pennsylvania Primary and stationing for the following five weeks. From the unbelievably optimistic high of SP Moon trine his Natal Moon at the time of the Iowa Caucus, he now ends -- perhaps -- this journey for the Nomination with the reality of Saturn stationing square this same Moon.

I believe that oftentimes Jupiter (the planet of optimism) and Saturn (the planet of hard reality) often work in tandem to help people understand the strengths and pitfalls inherent in each experience.

So, even though I believe the March Primaries will strongly indicate who the Nominee will be (notably the March 4th contest), I don't think -- based on the astrology as I understand it -- Barack Obama will leave the Race officially until after the deciding April 22nd Pennsylvania Primary.

here's a calendar of the Primaries in case anyone is interested:

FEBRUARY 2008

* February 5: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado (caucuses), Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho (D), Illinois, Kansas (D), Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico (D), New York, North Dakota (caucuses), Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah
* February 10: Maine (D caucuses)
* February 12: District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia
* February 19: Hawaii (D), Washington, Wisconsin

MARCH 2008

* March 4: Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont
* March 8: Wyoming (D)
* March 11: Mississippi

APRIL 2008

* April 22: Pennsylvania

1. Would this also indicate he's not seen as a contender for VP?
I know some have thought this might be the case if there are two strong frontrunners causing a split.

My next question would be what does Edwards chart indicate, during this time? Is there any astrological indication to suggest he might be a VP choice?

2. I don't know if I would say that Edwards would be a VP choice
as there isn't anything striking in his chart around Election Day or Inauguration Day to support it. He may -- with Tr. Uranus passing over his MC in April -- suddenly change careers, but my cursory look at Progressions and Transits didn't result in one of those "a-ha!" moments I look for to indicate a great, undeniable change.

I'll take a more detailed look later when I have more time as well as another look at Barack's chart around the Convention, Election and Inauguration Day.

4. I wish I could say 'Interesting,' but I can't,
because I don't understand the stuff, but your 'conclusions' are interesting.

If you have a chance, lots of folks would like to know about Wes Clark's 'future.'

7. yes, astrology can be hard to understand
It's taken me years of reading other people's commentary and watching how planets work in people's charts to reach an understanding of how astrology CAN work. Nothing is written in stone, so what I -- or any astrologer, for that matter -- sees isn't necessarily going to be the end result.

But one can get a general idea via transits of how one is going to feel around a certain time or whether or not their journey or efforts will be supported and enhanced or delayed and halted.

Generally, transits from Saturn (the planet of responsibility and authority) to any sensitive point -- and Barack's Moon with it's easy aspect (a Trine or 120 degrees) to his Jupiter is looking to be a very sensitive point for him -- can be difficult to handle and indicate in many cases disappointment or depression.

During the Iowa Caucus, the Secondary Progressed Moon (or SP Moon) was beginning it's conjunction -- or journey of being "on" -- his Jupiter and, the day of the caucus, was also damn near EXACTLY trine this Moon. Trines -- or any "easy" aspect -- tend to be very supportive of one's efforts and, trines especially, make things very, very "easy". If one is experiencing a lot of easy aspects (sextiles or 60 degrees, trines or 120 degrees and, to an extent, conjunctions or 0 degrees), the journey can be a lot easier than one experiencing the "hard" aspects -- square or 90 degrees, opposition or 180 degrees, inconjunct or 150 degrees and, in some cases, the conjunction.

So, with that in mind, the fact that during the same time period Hillary is experiencing a strong "easy" aspect -- a sextile -- to her Sun (one's identity) from Saturn (planet of authority and responsibility) at the same time Barack is experiencing a strong "hard" aspect -- a square -- to his Moon (one's emotions) from this same Saturn indicates who is happy at that time and who isn't or whose efforts to move forward are supported by the transits and whose aren't.

As this time period is an unusually long drawn-out one -- around six weeks due to Saturn appearing to stop (or station) before moving direct again -- and takes place a week before the last delegate rich State's Primary (Pennsylvania has 188 delegates) with the bulk of the transit after the primary, astrologically it becomes clear who probably will be victorious.

Sextiles generally support one's efforts if one is working hard to succeed or move ahead whereas squares indicate something one has no control over forcing you to change your plans.

With Saturn to Hillary's Sun, I suspect he'll support her efforts to clinch the nomination thereby altering how people see her or, in essence, changing her identity.

Saturn square Obama's Moon will force him to abandon his plans for the nomination due to forces he can't control (not having enough delegates for the nomination) and -- this is very interesting -- this is due to a woman as the Moon often indicates the female aspect in a man's chart. So, the actions of a woman (Hillary being more successful in achieving the requisite number of delegates) could be said to thwart Obama's quest for the Nomination as Saturn stations square his Moon.

Let me see how the astrology plays out (or doesn't) before I start peeking into Wes Clark's chart. But it is something I'll do as I'm curious as well. :-)

it will take a while for me to get into it.

3. for Seattle Girl in the Oops! thread
Edwards is currently experiencing SP Moon passing over his Jupiter/Moon conjunction right now -- indicating the up-tick in the Polls in SC as well as him coming out smelling like roses during the last debate.

But, as it meets his Jupiter exactly, it'll also be meeting by square Tr. Saturn (which will be moving retrograde square this conjunction over the next six or so weeks), so any feelings of success or optimism will be met -- and dampened -- by the cold, hard reality of Saturn.

This is the same Tr. Saturn retrograde that will be so affecting Barack with visits to Chiron, his SP Moon and finally his Natal Moon as it stations.

I would anticipate Edwards leaving the race at some point in late March as Tr. Mercury/Venus/Uranus square his Sun, Tr. Jupiter crosses his Chiron and Tr. Mars crosses his Mercury/Asc.

5. One more question, this time about the validity of the election and
how that would be perceived? Seems like other threads here are pointing to shocking or huge revelations during the time of the election, seems as though 2008 is destined to be a huge year from all that I've read, and with the economic turmoil during an election year...how does the US's chart look?

Sorry, ccpup, you must be on overdrive. But now I am hooked, as no doubt others here are. :)

Thanks for all of your input!

9. I'll need to take a look at that another time.
I'm just discovering my wings, as it were, with these two candidate's charts. To look at the chart of a Country or an Election could be more complicated and, therefore, left to the pros here.

Nice to learn you're hooked. And the addiction gets worse and worse as the astrology accurately plays out right before your very eyes!

It's creepy. :scared:

:evilgrin:

6. Thanks, ccpup
I have to say, though, that I was hoping for a better outcome for Edwards (I am a supporter, as you probably figured out).

Barring a nomination for President, though, I like the idea of him becoming AG is the eventual Dem nominee wins the GE.

11. Just noticed that slightly before the Maine Caucus on February 10th
until March 12 (when DC, Maryland and Virginia vote), Hillary has her SP Moon square Tr. Saturn.

Although it's nowhere near as long as Barack's in April -- hers is one week while his is a station which lasts six weeks --, I still felt it important to mention as it indicates that the delegate race is still on and, just as I suspect, the Super Tuesday States won't decide who the Nominee is.

I still believe that decision comes during the March contests with April 22nd in Pennsylvania pushing her over the necessary delegate count leading to Barack's Saturn station square Natal Moon "depression" for the following five weeks.
