For the past few days, I have not been able to wake up in the morning. I dream ALL night long which adds to the fatigue in the morning. It's such an abnormal sleep pattern for me that I'm obviously writing here about it. When I go to bed, I'm so tired, however it's difficult to fall into a good sleep and then come the vivid dreams--some good, some bad. It's affecting my writing in the morning and any other work I'm trying to do.
And the coffee pot is working overtime:crazy:
I am exhausted. Anybody else having sleep problems lately?

2. My nights and days have |
|
gotten flip flopped. I've been unemployed since the first of December and got rid of my roommate, so I've had no one at home to interfere, but I have not been able to get my time set straight. I'm going to work this week, and I selected the evening shift, something I would NEVER do. But since I'm not sleeping right, I felt it would be my best option for now.
I dream a lot also. Have you started taking any new Rx or supplements? I can sleep for 11 hours and still feel tired. I keep thinking it's the winter causing this.

3. I take a multi-vitamin |
|
and the medicine for my ADD--which sometimes can add to the fatigue, but nothing major has changed. I think part of it just not getting good REM sleep. Too many dreams are making it hard to sleep and just when I get in that deep sleep, the alarm goes off. I try going to bed early, but my body doesn't want to go to sleep then:shrug:

to fall asleep > http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=1309But it doesn't work until I GET IN BED. I take it after I'm in bed. Rarely I have to take a second one. It works great for falling asleep. I don't know what it takes to get me IN BED. :\

6. I've had insomnia for years. |
|
And what they call delayed onset sleep schedule disorder. It means I go to sleep very late, and wake up late. Prescription drugs don't help, melatonin doesn't seem to do anything.
If I had to get up in the morning and get to a job, I'd be seriously screwed.

I have it too; haven't always, but last ### years life has become disjointed, and that's one of the effects.
I've just retired, so that's not a problem. Do have a plane to catch in the 'morning,' so MAY just stay awake!
edit: its not on google, fwiw

8. That's what I've been going through. |
|
Ages ago I did work second and third shift for a few years. The hardest thing about coming off that was not knowing what to do during the evenings. But those are the kind of hours I have lapsed into. And I can't blame a roommate, as I haven't had one for two months.
Tonight I went to a Shamanic healer. I'm feeling very tired much earlier than usual, so maybe I can rotate back to night time sleeping. I hope.
btw . Melatonin in pill form never helped me either. The kind I now take is sublingual, and only works if I'm in bed.

9. Getting up in the morning |
|
Maybe this is more about getting up in the morning than going to sleep at night. If you're depressed or even just feeling blue, sometimes it's hard to get up out of bed. So, when the alarm goes off, try to think of one good thing that you anticipate that day, even if it's just breakfast. One good thing that makes you want to jump out of bed. :bounce:
As for going to sleep in the evening, I have a few recommendations. Get some exercise earlier in the day, if you're not doing that already. Do some yoga or meditation to calm that overactive brain. And take one Children's Benedryl early in the evening. It makes you sleepy, but without the hangover that comes with full-strength Benedryl. If it's too much, take a half one. They're chewable and grape-flavored. Yum. :9
Good luck with this!

Caffeine totally screws your sleep and a report was released earlier this week that it also screws with your blood sugar levels. Prolonged "abuse" of caffeine causes adrenal exhaustion.
I know an herbal recipe for dreamless sleep but it's only quasi-legal in a handful of states.
Elsewise, for relief, you could try st. john's wort (natural seratonin re-uptake inhibitor), or 5-htp (promotes natural production of seratonin in your body).
5-htp is safer than st. john's wort as far as side-effects. IE, both interact with other mood medications which is dangerous, but st. john's wort also makes you sensitive to sunlight which is terrible for winter blahs...
hugs, c
ps forgot to mention the benefits of strenuous exercise towards a good night's sleep - the therapy is absolutely free, the effect is immediate, and you might get a floor scrubbed in the process... the Drill Instructor in me sez EARN your exhaustion, and gimme another 10...
