Positive healing vibes request for my furbaby
I got up this morning & my 16 year old cat Nellie was bleeding from her tush. I got her to the vet & they ran some tests. She is somewhat anemic & at the first stage of renal failure. Right now she's resting comfortably at the vet's & she'll be there overnight for observation. Please send some healing vibes her way. I know she's scared because she's not home (even tried to put on a brave face so I would be fooled into thinking she had recovered & not take her to the vet). I've had her since she was about 3-4 weeks old (found her in the middle of the street, of all places).

Here's her pic (She's the silver-gray calico on the top of the sofa):

Thank you!

May she be back to her normal self very soon. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)

7. What a sweet little kitty (the others are, too, but they don't
look too "little"). A number of us here (and in the Pets Group) have cats who have been diagnosed with renal disease. My 15 yr. old Tiny was "diagnosed" 3 years ago and has done very well since I improved his diet. He is now eating Nature's Variety Prairie freeze-dried raw chicken-turkey medallions mixed with water once a day and a small can of wet cat food, plus a bit of Innova Evo dry food. As with many others, my vet prescribed a Prescription Diet, which he refused to eat, and after reading several posts on the Pets Group petfood (Started by Lorien: "Love your pet...Know what you're feeding... something like that), I started giving Tiny what cats normally eat, which is protein. His lab work is now good and he is pretty frisky for a 15 yr. old.

Sending love and healing energies to Miss Gracie, and I hope she perks up soon. Keep us posted.

The vet has suggested a diet for her to try, as well as me doing the intervenous fluid thing. I hope Nellie lets me do it. Up to yesterday, she was a very active, stubborn (but sweet) cat.

8. Light and Reiki to Sweet Nellie, her furbuddies and you
May a cocoon of love surround her so she knows she is safe and loved at all times.

DG all your furbabies are beautiful and Nellie especially radiates sweetness. I am so glad they have a human who appreciates them!

11. She's been a lovey, that's for sure
not too much on cuddling until lately, though. She has a strong, stubborn, independent streak & it about killed me to see her so weak this morning.

Thank you for your comments. :grouphug:

9. Healing vibes for your furbaby
I have a renal dog. He was diagnosed at 5 months of age and is now approaching 6 years of age. He eats his prescription diet and all of his bloodwork has been within normal range for the past four and a half years or so. Aside from his diet he leads a normal doggie life. Most days while I am tending to him and enjoying the pleasure of his companionship I send him healing vibes. I also send them to the healthier but older dog as well.

May your Nellie have the same positive outcome as my own dear boy.

24. Sending good thoughts to you and Nellie.
When will your vet know what is going on? If she has been bleeding slightly for a while that might account for the anemia. Cats can deplete pretty quickly, really.

As for the kidney thing, it is possible for kitties to go for quite a while once that starts to manifest. You may end up doing some Sub Q fluids occasionally, but the cat will probably feel and act pretty good most of the time. Your vet may suggest a different diet for her after this, and they may suggest wet food exclusively.

Hang in there!

Laura

25. Thanks Laura
I have to go to the vet's this afternoon to learn how to do the Sub Q. I hope Nellie will let me do it to her. She also has to change her diet. They are letting her come home today because she's not eating at the vet's & I have to take her back next week to see how she's coming along.
