3. Me too
We live in a village now, and while it has its advantages (half a block to a gas station/convenience store, walk to playground or restaurant or library), I sorely miss the wilderness, especially the sight of the sky on a clear night.

7. it could happen
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 04:52 AM by crikkett
around the equinox, SF and other city skylines went dark for an hour to "save money".

you could ask your local authorities if they ever considered lowering the lights. They might think you're brilliant.

(in my town the streetlights were turned UP after 9/11 for "safety" but I secretly beleive it only serves to block out the sky and keep us looking down instead of up.)

6. This is how our ancestors entertained themselves at night, before TV.
They made up stories about the constellations of stars. No, not Hollywood stars. The REAL stars!
