Post some of your more recent weird dreams.
Last night, I had a dream that stellanoir was doing a palm reading for me and saw something that concerned her. She didn't say that she was worried, but I could tell. She carefully started to ask me questions, and then I woke up.

I don't know if stella even does palm readings!

1. funny dream
I dreamt I was asked to work for the Obama campaign.

I was standing at a table sorting through papers and a woman working next to me asked my religion. I laughed and said that I used to be Catholic, but now I didn't have a religion. However, not having a religion does not mean I am not spiritual. She looked horrified.

Obama heard what I said and took exception. He said that being religious made a person stronger. He challenged me to a race. Ok, he may be younger and in better shape, but I feel my spirituality makes me stronger. :)

I was practically flying down the hill, watching my legs in disbelief. I was moving like I was twenty. Fun. Obama was actually behind me! Then I saw a puppy in the snow. I stopped to pick up the puppy and it smiled up at me.

Then I woke up. I couldn't help but laugh. After all didn't Edie Brickell say that "Religion is a smile on a dog"?

It was not only the one year anniversary of my last dogs death, but also the day they were picking up my foster dogs for permanent placement. I can't tell you how that dream lightened my spirit.

7. Thanks for the welcome.
Some of my dreams are just hysterical. I swear I am funniest when I am asleep. Most of them are very straight forward as well. Lucky for me, I guess.

2. Well, check this out....lol
My dad passed away one year ago. 62 y/o, never sick a day in his life. Dropped dead from a heart attack. Gone in seconds.

I've always been a "dream person." I'm very unsettled when I DON'T have vivid dreams, and much of my guidance comes through dreams.

I haven't dreamt of my dad at all. Until last weekend.

In the dream, I relieved the nightmare following his death and the drama with regard to caring for my mom...all the feelings were relived. Then, several months after his death (in the dream), my sister called to tell me that, lo and behold, dad was alive. He faked his death and ran off with a 24-year-old stripper in Oregon! :wow:  (he was a very faithful man...he and my mom were very, very close, so I don't know where this came from...lol)

I went through a separate grieving process in the dream with regard to this revelation. LOL.

Next (in the dream), my niece was getting married, and my sister talked my dad into coming to the wedding and facing everyone. I had not spoken with him nor seen him.

He no sooner arrived when thugs (actually, more Mafia types) stormed in and started shooting, and he was shot. Died instantly. Again.

How weird is that?!!! I went through three separate instances of grieving within this one dream. I was exhausted. lol

4. Yeah, that really is very weird.
What in the world goes on in our heads? One of the first things that I hope to do when I cross over to the other side is figure out what the true purpose of dreams is. (The Powers That Be on the other side had better let me have access to the "books" that hold all of the secrets. x( (;)))

Sorry that that dream was so painful.

I'm with you - I REALLY want to understand the dream thing. And, perhaps even more so, the "divine timing" thing. :)

8. grief
It seems to me that your dream is actually showing the stages of grief you have been through.

Denial: Anything would be better than his death, so he ran off with a stripper.

Bargaining: Your sister talks him into coming to the wedding.

Anger: Mafia thugs with guns!

Depression: The exhaustion.

On a happier note, the next stage of grief is acceptance.

The stages are from Elizabeth Kubler-Ross.

Just some thoughts. I hope it helps.

9. Wow, that is very, very insightful....
I can see that. When someone passes so suddenly, there is the element of not being able to "wrap your head around it." It doesn't seem real. While, for me, the sudden passing is a blessing in that he did not suffer - as opposed to having been ill - it makes it very hard to sink in. Here literally one minute and gone the next.

So, your analysis of the dream is probably spot on. :)

Thank you for sharing, and welcome! :hi:

10. Dreamt earlier this week that I had
seriously POed the Supreme Being and was getting special dispensation for just this infraction - whatever it was. And somehow this was a male entity which is NOT my current belief.

Laughed when I woke up. Guess I am walking on the wild side.

11. Lately my dreams have involved buildings and cars
made of white light. This is a symbol for me of something that has yet to come into material existence, but will in the future. The building was our home (which we are starting to complete, finally) and a baroque stair rail from our bedroom. An architect was there, explaining things to my husband and me. The other dream involved a white hearse, of all things--we could use it to drive in the special commuter lane on the highway (really strange because we live in a rural area where there aren't even four lane roads).

12. Wows
No I didn't see this earlier.

Though I've three colleagues with whom I'm close who do palmistry.

I can pretty much read anything but am way too much of a psychic sponge to routinely touch strangers on a regular basis. I'd end up needing so many psychic detox baths I'd probably turn into a prune.

That's also sort of why I stopped doing psychometry for most people.

I would guess your dream may have been related to my concern over your work and short term Saturn pressure and I was feeling as though you might be taking on more than was necessarily by saying you'd do the monthly prayer thread and I didn't intend to goad you into doing so.

Glad Callie chimed in.

Just maybe pace yourself as best you can for now.

13. Okay. I was standing in a playground, near where I used to live -
35 years ago. When I lived there, I would often visit the playground at night to stargaze.Back then, I was learning as much as I could about Astrology, "living, breathing, eating it" as the saying goes.
I've had many what I call "cosmic" dreams take place there, so that wasn't unusual. But, as I stood there, in this dream, my husband and I were there, looking just as we do now, we were absolutely freaking out over what we saw in the sky. He was insisting that I must understand what we were seeing, since I was a lifelong stargazer. All I could say was that I had no clue but it was NOT a good omen.

What we saw was not the moon and stars, but an entire row of Earths - one a "front view" followed by a "back view" in a repeating pattern across the sky. The Earths were all darkened as if by oil fires that originated in the Middle East. Around the Earths, galaxies exploded as though they were fireworks. He put his arm around me and hugged me close, I leaned into the embrace, and he said:
"Whatever happens, we will face it together." I woke up with a feeling of deep dread.

This was a few nights ago. FWIW: My husband has instituted a plan for buying up canned goods, in response to the floods in the heartland.

14. I recently had a weird dreamtime/realtime synchronicity thingy
In the dream, I was at a small gathering sitting next to a guy I was hung up on a few years ago, and we were chatting about life, the universe, and everything when he suddenly looked me dead in the eye and told me he wanted to have sex with me. In disbelief, I turned around and there was some woman I don't know looking very smug. He gets a concerned look on his face and turns to her and says he would like to with her, too, but later. (This doesn't bother me; I'm not monogamous and don't expect it from others.)

By this time, I'm aware that I'm dreaming, so I excuse myself, go outside, and fly around like Superman until I wake up. I always do that when lucid because I can have sex with good looking guys when I'm awake, but not that, at least not yet. :)

So about a week later I get an email from him inviting me (and 20 or so others) to some thing, and it includes a link to a video he made. I click on it and watch, and by the time it's done I realize I can't stand the guy. Loathe and despise him, as a matter of fact. Then I scroll down the related videos, and sure enough, one of them has the woman from the dream sitting next to him. Hmph.

If anyone has insight into WTF this means, if anything, I'd appreciate it.

15. I always have weird dreams
But a few weeks ago, I had a dream that I was terminally ill and a Dr. Kavorkian type doctor came and was starting to inject me with the lethal fluids. He stopped and asked me again if I was really ready to go home. I told him I missed my mother so much and was ready to go be with her (she died 7 years ago). Then my mother appeared and told me she'd love to be with me again, but she wanted to forewarn me that heavenly bliss was not instantaneous, that she had gone through major transitions that took a lot out of her before she finally felt at home. The doctor was injecting the fluids in me as she was saying this and I don't remember if I proceeded all the way or stopped it. But I knew the next morning it represented something very significant. For a whole week following this dream, I was extra tired. Of course, I've been struggling with hormones for a while now and exhaustion has been my middle name.

17. Dream, you're so sweet
Honestly, I looked at it in a positive way; that it might be symbolic that part of my life has to end before the new brighter spiritual one I seek takes over, but it won't be an easy transition. When I felt my fatigue kick back in, I remembered the dream and it gave me a lot of hope for a brighter tomorrow instead of feeling like I'm just fighting depression today.

Thanks for the

18. an exquisitely beautiful nightmare, with diffused, dappled light and sweet violins
the agony of survivor's guilt watching a sweet child of joy and idealism die in the shade of an elm as the parents agonizingly watch on. murdered for love of things, by their own hands. neglect and ambition were their name. america, goodnight my sweet prince.

FYI, the storm surge has begun. we are only beginning to crest the first surge... welcome to hell, hold on tight.

it's just my most horrific nightmares recently have involved something out of Leave it to Beaver and Golden Pond. it's the death of an age. but that's ok, soon there'll be the birth of another. every age is continuously dying and being reborn.

22. Yeah, I know! It was really the fact that someone from DU was in it.
Edited on Sat Jun-21-08 09:09 AM by I Have A Dream
When I first joined DU, I dreamt of DU quite often, but never specific people. I was just wondering if it meant anything.

Usually, I don't remember my dreams. I almost never have nightmares (that I remember, at least). Maybe it's because I don't usually get enough sleep so don't get into the really deep REM sleep; I don't know.

I agree with you on the boring part. It was just that stella was in it. I'm an extremely left-brained person and would love to have some of the dreams that the more imaginative, right-brained people here have. :)

OK, shadowknows, I'm sure you've got some truly interesting dreams; wanna share?!! B-)

25. Mine are all really mundane lately
Edited on Sat Jun-21-08 09:53 AM by shadowknows69
At least they start out that way. All seem to take place in the same universe, a city that feels familiar but I can't place a name on it. I imagine its an amalgam of the many cities I've visted in my waking life. Some times it's a very specific location like where I grew up and around the Fort Drum area and many seem to be in the town I went to school in. As I said they are mostly mundane in that it's just me and my friends or the other characters just mulling around the city. Then a lot of times out of the blue they turn into horrible nightmares where some frightening happening is going on, not always apparent what it is but just raw terror and the dream becomes a chase/survival dream. Sadly they usually end badly as well and I wake up in some moment of terror, usually my own impending demise. Fun huh? You asked.

the fact that I have myself on strict gas rationing, but I've been dreaming about cars lately.

Sunday afternoon I took a short nap and dreamed I was driving a friend's car around the parking lot of her church. When I first got in, I backed into another car. So, I called her on my cell as I drove to the other side of the building. We started talking about something else, and I was trying to back her car into a parking spot, and hit another car! At that point I burst into tears. She said, "don't worry! I'll be right there". So, I walked back to where the first car had been parked. She was there signing papers and I asked if she needed my insurance. She didn't. The first car was already gone and I wasn't sure if I should tell her or just let the owner find the dent later. I didn't want to disappoint her (not that she was), but certainly felt responsible. I woke up before I came to a decision.

This morning I was dreaming about a situation. One of my roommates started talking to me before I had a chance to run the whole dream through memory, but what I do remember was that I had somewhat sacrificed my car. It was in a row with other cars on the bank of a river. The rains came and washed out some of the bank, but the cars were still sitting there. I saw a man in a bright yellow BMW t-shirt, and that identified him as the man I was looking for. My project was to sell these unidentified objects. They were similar to locust skins, but dark and larger with a hook at one end. They could be assembled to make things. I sold 250,000 of them, which was the required amount to win the prize. The t-shirt guy was surprised I had won, but nevertheless he accepted it.

27. Last week I dreamed:
I was in a field with a crowd to watch 4th of July fireworks.

We were lying on blankets watching the dark sky. Then we saw what looked like National Guard jets in formation but they morphed into a “mother ship” then lots of small ships exited the large one and they looked like birds but were obviously made of a metal like material… they had beaks and the body was roundish. They flew right at us on the ground and I kept yelling “what the fuck, what the fucking hell.”

I was pissed off, not scared.

Then we were being marched along a tunnel and we were being encouraged to be happy and there were colors and balloons and music - carnival-like, but I could see people exiting at the end of the tunnel dazed and bloody.

Then I awoke.

28. My dreams are never that exciting.
Last night I dreamed we were installing new carpet.
That is all.
LOL
My day visions, though, make up for my boring night dreams.
I will have visions sometimes while driving home from work (hour long drive). Or sometimes while walking around the yard (big yard, live on a farm). Or while talking to someone on the phone.
They are just like dreams, but I'm not disabled. I can continue doing what I'm doing, usually.
