Oh no... I think I poisoned my cat :( |
|

I'm not supposed to be smoking in my room, but I did. So yesterday, I sprayed some Lysol in here to get rid of the smell. The windows in this room don't open, and it was pretty strong. I can't be sure this is what caused it, but my Boogie started vomiting last night. He threw up on the floor and bed. Then this morning, as soon as he ate, he threw up again. I've done some reading, and know that vomiting can be a sign of something really serious (I HOPE not). He is drinking water. I gave him a little bit of boiled chicken. He never eats people food, but he smelled it and licked it, but seemed to be starting to gag just from licking it. So he didn't eat. I'm going to keep an eye on him. He isn't getting dehydrated, but hasn't really kept anything other than water down since yesterday afternoon. He isn't going outside yet, but I did take him out to see if he would eat grass, but no. OH! That might be something I can try, barley grass. I had a kitty once who LOVED that stuff. I have peach yogurt, but don't know if it's okay to give him the flavored. I'm going to be beside myself if I did something awful to him. I am absolutely not using Lysol in here ANY MORE!
Is there anything else I can do?

1. I was afraid we'd poisoned our cat Simon once |
|
We had to flea treat the place, and I thought all the animals were out of the house, but Simon was actually asleep on my son's top bunk.
I called the vet and they said just keep and eye on him and make sure he has plenty of water. In the end he was fine.
I think you are doing just what the vet would say by watching Boogie and giving him lots of water. The kitty grass is a good idea, too. If it goes on too long, you may want to call the vet, but for now I think you're doing all that you can do.
Good luck!

2. Wow. Simon must have been |
|
a bit freaked out by the fumes! Scary.
I was careful not to spray near food or water. Yesterday was the first day in about 4 that he had wet food. He did fine with that, may have been before the spray. Even though I use a water filter, the source water supply is different. And, we're using a different kitty litter. So, it may not have been due to the Lysol. He isn't asking for food. I did fix him some barley grass water. He's not interested.
Thanks for your reply. It helps a lot.

Strengthened it using human points (but probably that would work). That is absolutely the only thing that came up re: chakras and meridians, and I was not expecting that at all. I know from people that they feel very weak when their heart meridian is weak. I'm going to check later to make sure that Boogie held the treatment.

I know he's probably missing his home space. We've moved three times in six months now. He is just sleeping a lot today. Thanks so much.

So far, he has held the treatment, best I can tell. I'll check tomorrow am, too.
I love cats. No, I don't have one now. But I think about the previous cats in my life a lot.

6. Oh no!. Keep an eye on him and honestly I don't use harsh chemicals |

anymore because of the pets. There are gentle botanical sprays that have lavender or other nice smells you can use to cover up the smell of smoke. Honestly, votes you shouldn't be smoking around the kitty. When my husband and I smoked our kitty then developed a smoker's cough. When we took it outside, she recovered. Second hand smoke affects their little lungs too.

 I'm going to be quitting altogether pretty soon. I was told from the beginning that he should not be around smoke because he did have a bit of a respiratory issue when he was much younger.
