Even when I "slow down" I am still crazy busy!!! WTF!?
I lost my job in January
I have been working less hours at my clients
I am still surrounded with things and people and appointments and STUFF that needs my attention....!!! agh!

Teacher conferences, dental appointments, MY doctor and specalist treatments, therapy, cooking, mopping the floors, just getting the laundry DONE for once, feed the cat, water the plants, go to the DMV, pay the phone bill, girl scouts, kids asking me to help them with school (mine and other's)...the list goes on ad nauseum...and I still haven't started my CEU's yet!

does it ever get less crazy? Some days I feel like I do so little, but I am stil running in circles!

And how am I supposed to hold my center when the wind's rushing by at 400mph!?

ohhhhh, I guess that's what it can feel like when the vibrations are moving faster, eh?

anyone feeling this dichotomy...more time on paper, but less tinme in reality?

1. Yeah baby!
You know it! I was just thinking about this--go figure! Hee. I cannot get ANYthing done. Between appointments (doctor, dentist, hair, etc.) and freelance work (this was supposed to be FREElance--my choice, right?!), I'm freaking out. Threw the kidlet in school this morning and went to the supermarket, bank, and drug store; barreled back home to do a phone interview; now it's time to pick up the kid. It occurred to me for the thousandth time that I really SHOULD get an oil change before my Jeep starts acting up, but I just. don't. have. time. (So what do I do? Visit DU, of course!)

Big windstorm here too. Winds of change indeed. Just hope it doesn't rip off the plywood back in the kitchen where our back door is suppose to be going--again, WHEN Mr. MG finds the time. (Hint: the plywood's been there since last July and the hole cut since December!)

2. bwaahahaaa!
I love it...all those stupid "time savers" that we are surrounded with - and we don't have any time saved! well, if time is just an illusion, then why does it RULE us so?

OMG - Love it... "FREElance" = more freedom? NOT!

good luck with that plywood thing.... It's funny how our homes are the last thing to get fixed too, huh? I have been needing to clean my kitchen floors and reorganize the "craft/homework" table for weeks - finally got most of it done yesterday...and now my BODY is SOOOOOO protesting today!!!
oh well, I guess we can rest when we're DEAD! lol

3. Yeah whatever happened to
that prediction that once computers permeated all facets of our lives, we'd only work a couple of hours a day and computers would do the rest? Ah, the naive '50s!

Bonus: Quick trip to the pediatrician this afternoon (which means another night of takeout) to find out that MG Jr. has STREP! Jackpot! (Uggghhh!)

So...what is this "clean" you speak of? It is foreign to me. I have noticed that I have a cupboard with buckets and mops and broom-like thingies in them, but I've forgotten what they're for.

6. Hee hee unless you go hot-rod with a vacuum cleaner!
(Yeah, I love Hocus Pocus!)

Thanks for the healing! MG Jr. sure needs it! I'm doing all right so far--most essential for me is getting a peaceful sleep, so I've got Jr. in the big bed so I can keep an eye on him during the night (and not be crammed into his car bed with him, which deprives me of just about any decent sleep). Poor Mr. MG gets the couch for at least one more night.

5. ABSOLUTELY!
I can't believe how time is flying. An hour now feels like 20 minutes. I'm working really long hours at work, and the time just whizzes by. I can't remember the last time that time dragged on for me.

8. It's partly a function of having kids
Mine are teens, and I'm constantly chauffeuring them- school, friends, piano, dance, dance, dance, rehearsals, kung fu, therapy- argh!

Also, it's about being part of a family. My husband, kids, and MIL (who can't drive and is always sending me to special stores to get a certain brand of liverwurst, but, thank the Goddess, is moving out soon) all expect to have DINNER every night. When I was single I'd cook up some broccoli, melt cheese over it, toast a whole wheat English, and I was done! Husband does cook a lot on weekends, teen son has a couple recipes, and we do some prepared foods and takeout once a week. But I go to FOUR different supermarkets, from Shop-Rite to Whole Foods.

The world also seems more complicated these days- eg., it took us 5 hours, online and one the phone, to pick out new cell phones, cause the damn website was all screwed up. And I always seem to be battling with some bureaucracy- insurance companies come to mind. Bill-paying, banking, taxes, doctors' appts, car repairs. . .

Forget about cleaning the house. My husband doesn't get home till about 7:30 or 8, and over the weekend he has a bunch of fix-it things to take care of. I'm still recovering from a major illness, so my energy level is limited, so given the choice of napping or mopping the floor, guess what wins?

Oh yeah, and I work about 20 hours a week. Sigh.

But I guess in the days when you had to scrub your clothes by hand, and cook everything from scratch, it wasn't too easy either.
