1. ...
“Well, if I didn’t know better, I’d say that this state is going to go Democratic!”

Wouldn't it be great to pin these woos down and say, "Alright, so if it DOESN'T go Democratic, will you admit astrology is bunk?"

With Edwards now out, I don't see Obama or HRC carrying Texas. No way.

3. HRC is the best fundraiser the Republicans have in Texas.
If she is nominated they will pour millions into the war chest of the Republican nominee. Remember the original "swift boat" ads came from Texas and you can bet there will be more of the same this year.

As for Obama, it is hard to tell. We have a VERY LARGE Hispanic population. But I don't think they will overcome the Red Neck population. And I am not sure how Obama plays to the Hispanics.

If the past is any indicator, the Democratic candidate will concede Texas and not spend a dime or a minute campaigning here. That allows me the freedom to vote for Mickey Mouse, Nader, or some other loser and still have a clean conscience. If the party's nominee isn't interested in winning Texas, why should I be interested in that either.

6. That's not so.
Hillary hatred is a full time job for many Texas Republicans. It is visceral and palpable. She is despised even more than Ted Kennedy.

I realize that HRC's supporters like to believe that her negatives are not an issue, but in Texas they are a huge issue. She motivates and unites the Republicans like no other candidate. She is the one candidate that all Republicans agree to hate.

7. You're missing the point.
Obviously, her negatives are an issue. So are Obama's. The only difference is that HC's are well known and O's are not. This summer and autumn if O is the nominee, then we damn sure will get to know his negatives. They will paint him as a novice (which he is) and as some kind of outsider who does not understand the "values" of mainstream America. The knuckle-draggers will be out in force regardless. In my judgment, it is more important to have someone who knows how to fight in that kind of environment. And to govern afterwards.

8. If you say so.
I've only lived in Texas about 40 yrs. I guess I have a lot to learn about Texas politics.

10. So you didn't notice that this thread is about Texas
Except for your posts trying to rationalize the fact that HRC is a pariah?

2. So states have horoscopes now?

How come Pluto figures prominently in the forecast when it isn't recognized as a planet anymore? I'm sure that chunk of ice is really concerned and all, but what about the influence of asteroid Ceres or Halley's comet?

4. Ooh! Asteroid 2007 TU24!
Wiki:

Asteroid 2007 TU24 was discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona on October 11, 2007. Imaging radar has estimated that this asteroid is 250 meters in diameter. This object's 1.4418-lunar distance approach on January 29, 2008 at 08.33 UTC was the closest for any known potentially hazardous asteroid of this size until 2027.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TU24

That ought to have astrological significance.

I sometimes wonder whether the best strategy in threads like that is to fight woo with woo. Anyone can cast an I Ching reading, deal Tarot, or look at a bunch of tea leaves. If you have a group of people earnestly making different predictions using different methods, what the OP going to do? Say "your ancient wisdom is obvious nonsense, only my ancient wisdom works"?

11. "a 36 year veteran of astrology"?
Must be right, then. Can't argue with 36 years of irrational guesswork.
