Housing project started at Schriever base

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for 242 new homes at Schriever Air Force Base east of Colorado Springs.

The homes are the first ever at the base for the 50th Space Wing, which operates and supports more than 170 U.S. military satellites. Construction is expected to be complete by 2010.

The Air Force selected Actus Lend Lease to develop the homes at Schriever as well as nearby Patterson Air Force Base and Los Angeles Air Force Base in California. The developments are part of a $321 million project.
