500 SF guardsmen heading for the war zones

A wave of Air Guard security forces airmen is now on the way to the Middle East.

More than 500 Air Guardsmen from 20 states and territories have begun a weeks-long series of deployments that will bring the total Air Guard security forces presence in Southwest Asia to 1,110, according to a National Guard Bureau press release.

The first airmen to deploy were 25 troops from Utah’s 151st Security Forces Squadron that left for Saudi Arabia on May 16. The majority of the Guardsmen are mobilized on nine-month cycles, with 179 days spent deployed after a few months of training.

Airmen from the following states and territories will deploy to the following locations:
