OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Ten Marines were injured, some seriously, when their seven-ton utility vehicle rolled over on a Camp Pendleton road on Wednesday, base officials said.

The Marines suffered injuries that ranged from moderate to serious, but “there were no life-threatening injuries,” said Mike Alvarez, a I Marine Expeditionary Force spokesman.

Alvarez had few details readily available about the accident, including the time of the accident and whether any other vehicles were involved. It’s not clear how many Marines were riding in the truck at the time. He said the accident is under investigation.

Crews with the Camp Pendleton fire department responded to the scene and helped with the evacuations.

Seven of the injured Marines, all assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 11 with 1st Marine Logistics Group, were taken to local trauma centers, including one medevaced by helicopter, Alvarez said. Three others were taken to the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital for treatment.
