Fake captain sentenced for wearing medals
Fake captain sentenced for wearing medals

NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana man is sentenced to a year of home confinement after pleading guilty to illegally wearing military medals at his wedding.

U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey also on Tuesday sentenced 42-year-old Andy Jerome Ticker, of Holden, to two years of supervised release and ordered him to pay a $500 fine.

Prosecutors say Ticker has never served in the armed forces, but he wore a Navy captain’s dress white uniform at his April 12 wedding in Slidell.

The uniform was adorned with several medals and decorations, including a Silver Star, Purple Heart and Navy Cross. The latter is the second highest medal next to the Medal of Honor.

Wearing military medals without proper authority is a federal crime.

2. When actors wear uniforms they're always out of Regs
to get around the impersonation-crime thing. There's always something wrong with the uniform. So dude's crime was in being too authentic in his shammery. I wonder if his bride put him up to it because she wanted a military wedding.

Medals, and the service and risk they communicated, used to be so important that it was shocking to imagine someone wearing one they didn't earn.

Nothing's important anymore except (fake) money and (fake) deference to (fake vp cand.) Sarah Palin. Sigh.
